Yes, I think the network is more of a factor in overall performance than the CPU, which even in a Pi is more than adequate and in an Asus is loads. I am pretty sure it is my network, with two wi-fi hops in each direction (Volumio App<->NAS<->RPI4) and other members of the family streaming stuff. Last night I discovered I can now up-sample to 384KHz on Volumio (good) or on my NAS (very good) using the C3PO LMS plug-in. On the latter, the network causes stuttering, especially if the output is WAV. Compressed flac helps a lot but it still stutters occasionally. Time to look at upgrading to a mesh wifi network (laying cables is not an option).

One of the things I read in a reply by Michelangelo recently to someone with Tidal problems is that Volumio was initially designed with files as the primary function and streaming as secondary. He acknowledges that this needs to reverse now and they are committing to putting streaming first. I think this will give us the more native feel to streaming as well as better search facilities that we have been looking for. Things like playlists may either get a refresh button or not be cached. I also look forward to being able to edit my playlists and add new music to them from within Volumio. Yes, this sounds right. There's a fair bit not right with the way it works today. Roll on a better experience! Or better still a Qobuz connect from within app capability.

A good mesh wi-fi network is remarkable in terms of getting the most from broadband, in our case a lowly 20Mbps. We have both been on simultaneous Teams calls today and there hasn't been a glitch. Not even when I'm watching, say, a 4K programme on Netflix and Ruth is watching something on iPlayer upstairs.

Hi, I have been running Volumio with the Squeezelite plug-in on my RPI4, quite happily streaming from LMS on my NAS. Today, I received a new Asus Tinkerboard S, installed Volumio everything worked very smoothly except for the Squeezelite plug-in. It "installs" but there are no settings and the player cannot be seen on LMS. On the RPI4 at first it would not install because I had changed the default SSH password, but I have not done that yet. I have Googled to see if there is a solution without success. Does anyone know if there a way to manually install it from SSH or does it simply not work?

I've no idea and I don't know if any Asus TBS users here are using Squeezelite. You may need to ask in the Volumio forum. forum.volumio.org/

You may need to ask in the Volumio forum. forum.volumio.org/I did not get a response there but should anyone else have this problem, the solution is here www.minidsp.com/forum/shd-series/15598-volumio-and-squeezelite#41948The correct edit to the squeezelite.service should be "ExecStart=/opt/squeezelite -n Volumio -o default -C 2 -a 80:4:24:0". These can be changed afterwards in the settings page anyway. I also did a chmod 777 /data/plugins/music_service/squeezelite/squeezelite.service, which is hinted at in other parts of the thread. Squeezelite is not up and running and I can see the settings page!

Nice fix - glad you got it working. Let us know what you think of the Asus compared with the Pi when you get a chance.

I've just found that increasing Buffer Before Play to 40% helps with the slight delay the Mutec introduces before locking. On some songs I was missing a second or two of intro, depending on the lead-in. This has improved things very nicely.

Too expensive, overpowered, comes without disk or memory. I'm at a loss to explain why Volumio would be so interested unless they intend to produce a rip-off "premium" product, and that doesn't sound like them at all..

I don't understand the emphasis on graphics, to be honest. Volumio will waste all of that power.
I really like the Tinker Board platform. It does everything needed for Volumio. Better than a Pi, same size.

With a adapter you could probably use the jcat usb xtreme card.

It's good to rebuild my secondary streamer with a Pi 3 and IQAudiO DAC/Headphone board and get it all going with the latest Volumio. Nice to listen to my SuperLux HD668B headphones again. Not bad for my bedroom system.

Oh my gawd, that's better than the old one?
Hmm, it's going to take some grappling with.

Oh my gawd, that's better than the old one? Hmm, it's going to take some grappling with. That’s the format on the Roon Forum - not my favourite layout for sure, not on Tapatalk either, hopefully that’ll come soon and it might look ok there.
