The list is scrollable and each person is clickable to another window of information about them. There is also artist information at the root level. This saves so much time not having to switch to a browser window to get cross-referenced information. It's quite addictive.
Worth upgrading to Superstar? For me, yes! Dammit, it's my primary source, so why not?

I can see that it might be worthwhile for you, but I'll be interested to find out how often you're using it once the "novelty" has worn off, say in two or three months time. P.S. I also think it looks fugly.

It's a lot nicer in real use than that screen capture. I prefer it to the classic view and it tells me what I need to know.
It isn't for everyone, but I like the direction they have taken and I like that they have finally properly debugged it. I read another member of their forum say that his list of bugs were all resolved in this version.

I wonder if any of the useless, nonsensical behaviour from Volumio when in Qobuz mode is fixed?
OTA has always worked for me. I'll take over moaning now then Martin.

You have control, Steve! What useless, nonsensical behaviour? It's a challenge to search for something and then go back. One tablet I have the search button disappears and you have to go back to home and back into Qobuz to restore it. New search needed of course. Using the back arrow sometimes takes you back to the searched list, sometimes it doesn't. Searches are not logical. Stuff is jumbled up. Searching for a song, seemingly impossible. Searching artist and song doesn't work. You have to search artist and then hunt around to find the song. Could be buried in one of the albums. Might not be on Qobuz at all of course! Playlisted stuff in app still shows up sometime in the future. Not sure why it's a seemingly random length of time. An accidental scroll up a bit too much chucks you out of Qobuz back to the highest level in Qobuz all together, and you have enter again. Search lost. These are all the same regardless of which phone or tablet I use. These are just the ones I can remember whilst not on the thing! The app works like a Rolls Royce in comparison. Trouble is, that's useless to me. Apart from adding to playlists - for the next listening session, see above.

Searching for a song, seemingly impossible. Searching artist and song doesn't work. You have to search artist and then hunt around to find the song. You must be doing it wrong. Searching for a song with a keyword or two is easy. Scroll down past the albums in the search results to 'releases'. It often finds the song without difficulty. EDIT: I believe the playlist delay is only because Volumio caches it. When I've been in a hurry, a quick restart always updates the playlists.

As I ‘update’ Volumio (happens either/or on both PC & App.) with new albums I put on my NAS, the albums list displays alphabetically on the PC/App. Has anyone here played around enough to determine if one can display the albums added by ‘most recent’ or date added?

It looks like that feature has been requested since 2016, with Michelangelo saying it's "do-able." In 2019 it was, according to Michelangelo "...in our roadmap" April 2020 a user asked what the status of it is. No reply as yet. forum.volumio.org/new-libarary-view-recently-added-t4852.html

I first tried Volumio several years ago and, although it was super easy to set-up, I did not think much of the user interface so I decided to stick with PiCorePlayer and my LMS ecosystem. A few days ago I thought I'd try again. I was pleased to find that the set-up is still super easy, without numerous reboots needed for the PCP. What's more, the USB interface seems much more robust than the PCP where it its not unusual (for me) to have to reboot and/or restart squeezelite, especially if my DAC is turned-off when the RPI4 boots. Volumio simply detects the USB device has been connected and restarts the player without any fuss.
The user interface is still rather laggy (maybe because of my network set-up) and on one occasion it was showing me it was playing a completely different song on an album than the one actually playing. However, the Squeezelite plug-in allows me get the both worlds - the stability of the player and still use it with my LMS. I am now tempted to try the Asus Tinkerboard S to see if its better than my RPI4.

There is no lag with the Asus TBS and Volumio.

No lag at all on my RPi 3b or +, I think it is!

Yes, I think the network is more of a factor in overall performance than the CPU, which even in a Pi is more than adequate and in an Asus is loads.

Rebooting does seem to update the playlists. Thank goodness there's method to it. Can't be that hard to make it dynamic pull or add a update now button, can it?

One of the things I read in a reply by Michelangelo recently to someone with Tidal problems is that Volumio was initially designed with files as the primary function and streaming as secondary.
He acknowledges that this needs to reverse now and they are committing to putting streaming first. I think this will give us the more native feel to streaming as well as better search facilities that we have been looking for. Things like playlists may either get a refresh button or not be cached. I also look forward to being able to edit my playlists and add new music to them from within Volumio.

This is a better screenshot of the new Artists & Music feature in Volumio Superstar. No, Paul, I haven't tired of it yet!

No, the YouTube plugin is broken since Google disconnected Volumio about some disagreement over audio-only replay.
Michelangelo says he is working with Google on this.
