It's not a permanent problem, and to describe it in layman's terms it's almost as if sometimes the first restart "doesn't take." I could be that it fails to write to the microSD...but then following the 1st reboot you'd think the change would be lost as the software runs in-memory. Maybe there's an intermediate "write to location".

Something that's acting as a buffer perhaps?

Same here. It's also a bit tedious that somehow a few settings get altered and you have to go through them all again to check.

I get the same. I also lose the mixer type each time I restart. I want it to be "none" but it goes back to "hardware". It happens both with the Caiman SEG and my new D90, which arrived yesterday.

Hi Bill, once you enable Virtuoso in the plan and restart the streamer, you should see Qobuz/Tidal/HighResAudio login sections in Sources. Oh, where did your post go?

Volumio on Intel Atom x86
Some may possibly remember I used to have a dedicated Windows music server running JRiver and Spotify on an Intel Atom board.
Intel DN2800MT Mini-ITX Motherboard - Intel Atom N2800 1.86GHz 4GB DDR3
It's a great board, I bought it in 2012 and it proved to be very solid and reliable, but I retired it a couple of years ago. I resurrected it recently just to run Spotify, using Linux Mint for the O/S. Really simple to setup and I didn’t even need to use the Terminal as Spotify is in the package software store.
Now I’m not sure where, but awhile back I remember reading that Volumio could now be run on x86 architecture, I thought that’s interesting and worth exploring then promptly forgot all about it . . . senior moment!
This morning I was thinking of putting a different version of Mint onto the Atom board when I remembered about Volumio, so thought I’d try it out. Again pretty simple, downloaded Volumio, flashed it to an 8GB USB stick then booted the Atom and although it took sometime to load Volumio from the USB stick, I was eventually greeted with the GUI. I installed the Spotify and Spotify Connect2 plugins – again simple and trouble free. Plugged in my USB DAC and well I never, it worked. I have to say sound quality wise it’s an improvement from running Spotify in Mint. The volume control isn’t working at the moment and Spotify connect isn’t as robust as on Mint, but the browser dashboard works well so running the board headless is very easy.
I have a couple of glitches to iron out re the volume control and I want to install the package onto the boards mSATA SSD, rather than running it from the USB stick, which should use a smidge less power and boot a lot faster.
Overall though, a worthwhile experiment and the improved sound quality is clear. It’s probably overkill running Volumio on this board and it’s certainly using more power than a Pi or Tinkerboard would, so maybe I might buy a new board, but this is working well at the moment. It’s probably the most use I’ve ever had out of a single computer component.
So Volumio has a new user and it's certainly come a long way from when I first had a look at it

That was me talking about the x86 installation, and mine refused to work. You're now the second person to have pissed me off got it working at the first attempt, that I know of. I obviously need to revisit my experiment.

Always worth another go, what did you use, USB stick or an SD card? I have found for flashing equipment, there can be a lot of cards and drives that fail and others work first time. SanDisk can be problematic at times.
I must admit I was a bit surprised myself - it did take a long time before it loaded though and I thought it hadn't worked.

I used a brand new 32GB SanDisk stick (I tried two in fact) flashed with Balena Etcher. I may just buy a semi-decent new mini-PC instead of my old used Lenovo model. If I spent a bit more money I might be less inclined to waste it.
