Thanks for that advice, Patrick. I will find some time to look at your plug-in. Thanks, MartinT. Just make sure you download the plugin "youtube-20191224.zip" and not any earlier than that, or you could get errors when retrieving streams Sounds too complicated for the hard of thinking like me Let me know when you lot have sorted that out It's not as complicated as it looks I just tried to be as detailed in my instructions as possible. If you have a Google account you should be able to do it in under 30 minutes. Of course, you could wait for the official plugin to be updated. I see they have their "OAuth performer" integrated which means you would need MyVolumio for YouTube access. On non-official Volumio builds like mine, unfortunately, MyVolumio is not available at all so I would still have to resort to using my own API credentials

Thanks Patrick
I'm playing CDs 99.9% right now. Want to be able to stream and have Volumio in need of updating. Not used for many months

I perform every update now, whether they look useful to me or not, as I don't have to take any special steps with the ATB. I take it that your update problem is still not fixed?

I take it that your update problem is still not fixed? I don't know, but I doubt it. I'll give it a go soon.

It must be easier to put a record on than all this fannying around surely? Or a CD? Or an SACD? LOL

No more fannying around than realigning the arm, changing a cartridge, oiling the bearing, levelling the suspension, surely?

It must be easier to put a record on than all this fannying around surely? Or a CD? Or an SACD? LOL I think it depends on the mindset - if you can just put a record on, sit down and be happy, that is great. But if you are remotely fussy about the playback you need to spend god knows how long sourcing good quality new or used vinyl, clean it carefully and then keep it clean! Once streaming is set up I have found it infinitely easier to enjoy than the trials and tribulations of vinyl ownership.

Plus you need to get up to attend to the LP player every 20 minutes or so

Over 99% of the time I turn on my equipment and go to my tablet and play whatever I am in the mood for or I am actively discovering music

I think that's the key to streaming - how easy it is to discover new music.

Agreed.
Saying that, there is something about playing records. Astonishing that they can sound as good as they do.

No more fannying around than realigning the arm, changing a cartridge, oiling the bearing, levelling the suspension, surely? Once a TT is set up properly (that means using the correct tools not cheap crap from pro-ject etc) then the only thing that sounds better is a reel to reel and again that must be meticulously set up. Not much needs to be done other than put a record on after that, digital is lazy mans music, playing records keeps you active LOL. Digital has progressed in leaps and bounds but IMO as long as company's like Chord are around it will carry on being bland, uninteresting and sterile. All IMO of course.

Chord are the new Naim as far as digital is concerned. There are far better routes to digital success. I can assure you, I don't do bland!

For what I heard with the Chord Quintest the biggest obstacle in getting good sounds was the power supply to the DAC. Improve that and it suddenly becomes a lot more musical. But agree at the price they are selling they should be getting this right.
