Thanks, Paul. I'm hoping the Tinker version won't play up.

Just now tried to update to 2.649 from 2.632. Both times it's completed and asked for a restart. Upon return, it's still on 2.632.
Completely stock untouched build. This really feels like there is a radius of update prevention centred around Basingstoke.

This really feels like there is a radius of update prevention centred around Basingstoke. Or it's the residual effect of Mike's last visit. This is going to sound daft most probably, but try restarting two or three times. I've had to do that on occasion to get my changes to "stick."

Gosh, this thing restarts fast!
No joy, I've applied the update and restarted four times.

Can I suggest you two chaps, start a Volumio's users guide for dummies plus some of your tips and tricks, it may help a few of the other chaps which are less software literate

As soon as one writes a guide or set of instructions (speaking as one who has written a couple professionally) the first person to chirp up invariably says " well, I did that, just like you said, but this happened, instead of what you said would happen." Then comes the inquest to find out what they actually did, as opposed to what they said they did. I'm sure many of us recognise that period of silence from a telephone caller just after one has said "But WHY did you do that?" Users apparently see it as their life's goal to totally wreck your carefully crafted set of instructions within the first week of it going live, even though you think you've covered every possible eventuality, and all of the impossible ones too. They will always find something you've either dismissed as impossible, or is so off the wall that you never thought of it in the first place. It's often better to act as a help-desk, which is what a forum is, essentially, or at least, should be. Most people can mange the "Idiot's Guide" stuff (yes, I know, I wasn't thinking of you. Mike. ) and it's only when something untoward happens that they need help. Come on, be honest, who actually reads instructions? Google is also a great tool if people can be arsed to use it, and they really should be arsed, especially for the basic stuff. Of course it will always be much easier for them to post a vague question on a forum and go back to watching telly or playing music in the hope that " someone" will Google the answer for them, instead of them actually having to learn something all by themselves. I'm more than happy to answer questions, if I can, but writing a "guide" is, I feel, a lot of hard work for nothing. MartinT ? What's your take?

I can't help agreeing with you, Paul. I tried to list the requirements in the opening post and have kept it up to date. You've gone for a different case, and there are loads to go for. Otherwise it's no more difficult than building a cereal packet toy.
The task that may stop many is burning the Volumio build to an SD card. It's been covered before and we can talk anyone through it but as everyone has a different card reader, and in some cases, a built-in card slot, generic instructions won't fit all cases.
All I can say from my listening so far, is it's well worth the effort. I will fully review it when I get my uprated QP-1 supercap PSU back.

Update v2.649
FIXES - Fixed Multiple Alarms Scheduling
- Improved Volumio3 Mobile UI
NEW FEATURES - Bluetooth A2DP Audio Playback for MyVolumio Users
As I'm not currently using any modifications to the ATB setup I thought I'd try a straightforward update. It was very speedy and problem-free. Sorry, Martin.

I just burned it onto SD card and set it up last night! I did it on an 8GB card and wonder whether to try the install to onboard eMMC. Slightly nervous about it if it won't update in future although there is a jumper to force SD boot. Not sure it's worth it, to be honest. On the update failures, all I can think of that is common is my Volumio account subscription.

What do you mean 'not working' John? Can you not get it working in Volumio? Do you know that you need at least a Virtuoso Volumio subscription to be able to use Qobuz?
