Hi Martin, quick request. As you continue your evaluation of this new version of Volumio, see if when you change to a specific DSP program (i.e. like the 'Minimum Phase Slow Roll-off Filter') whether or not is stays there and does not revert back to the default (Linear Fast-Roll off Filter) upon the next time you start-up Volumio again. Appreciate that. Cheers.

Hi, I'm not sure how that can happen as the different decoding selections are in my LKS DAC. I leave it set for Slow-M all the time.
Are you saying that there are such filters in Volumio? I would guess that they would only support Pi-based DACs and not the Allo Kali that I use.

Yes, when I ordered the Katana + Isolator it came pre-loaded with Volumio 2.5xx. The DSP's specific to the Katana DAC (Ess9038q2m) must be triggered in Volumio when the Katana is selected for playback. No worries, I was thinking about upgrading, but am a little old school and if it ain't totally broke don't fix it. I only play my P2P music, nothing else. Thanks again.

Connecting to Volumio as a device from the Spotify app was seemingly taking longer and longer. I updated to latest Volumio last night. No dramas on the update. Connecting now takes less time..
Update, scratch that last bit. It's saying connecting for ages now but if I intervene and play something it then shows Connected and plays..
Further update. Testing connecting Spotify to any of my other devices Alexa and Sonos is the same.. At least I know now not to wait and wait and wait 🙃

I find if you try first time and it's slow, stop the connecting attempt by chosing to play on your phone or tablet that you're using and then attempt to connect a 2nd time and I find it's almost immediate.

I'm finding the latest Volumio fast and reliable and, as I said, I rather like the new interface. Fewer keystrokes to get to music. I've amended my previous post to reflect a more customised version for me. theaudiostandard.net/post/163618/thread

I've just updated, but the new interface seems fairly redundant as I don't stream; all of my music is on Synology NASs and all the new interface does is make the space it's displayed in smaller.

Hah - yes, I can see that it would not suit a files-only system.

I'll have to do that sometime as it fixes small glitches with the new UI.
I dare not try the updater, it has never yet worked for me!

It has to be connected to the config.txt file I use, being in Dev (SSH) mode or using the IIS output. Trouble is, Paul uses the first two and Steve uses the latter!

All I do is swap back to the basic config.txt, update, replace config.txt with my custom version, restart Volumio, and I'm good to go. Volumio will not update with a modified config.txt in place.

I've tried that before but I shall give it another go.

I keep two copies of config.txt in the relevant Volumio folder named config.txt and OLD_config.txt and simply rename them as required.

Do you leave SSH enabled while updating?

I use WinSCP to get into Volumio and manipulate the file names via its GUI. Log out of WinSCP. Perform the update. Log in to WinSCP and change the filenames back. Log out of WinSSP. Reboot Volumio. Robert's your father's brother. If you can use it in your setup I heartily recommend WinSCP, Martin. It's even got a built-in text editor which means you can make changes to config.txt (or any other text file) without ever leaving the Volumio environment. The program is based on code from PuTTY so you can also share existing PuTTY site settings with it.
