I just updated the version of Volumio that's running on the Pro-Ject Streambox and I'm really pleased to report that they've fixed the longstanding problem whereby playback over DLNA would only work with gapless playback disabled, which made for irritating pauses between tracks. I'm not sure when this was fixed with Volumio proper, but it means that anyone using a Volumio device as a JRiver playback zone shouldn't have any problems now.

Gapless playback is important for classical music and I know the lack of it annoys jandl100 among others. I listened to Stravinsky's Rites last night, which is broken up into many sections, and am glad to say that the whole thing played gapless without issue from Qobuz via Volumio.

I've ignored the last few updates.
How are we with the new GUI? Is it acceptable and/or can the 'classic' view work like before?

I may put this new version on my 2nd SD card and give it a spin.
2.587 is still a little glitchy, like if I play a song sometimes the album artwork remains on the previous song and the progress counter on the left doesn't, err, progress. The song plays perfectly, it's just the display logic.
Also, very occasionally, nothing will play from any service with just the progress line at the top moving to the right. I rectify this by going to Menu, Profile and re-enabling the MyVolumio subscription enable button.

I couldn't login to Qobuz yesterday. It turns out that Qobuz disabled login for Volumio users until today while they sort out an issue with a search string.
No more details than that. I shall try tonight.

Still can't login. Michelangelo hasn't heard back from Qobuz.

I don't know if you saw it mentioned in the Volumio forum, but Michelangelo is looking into some sort of plugin to work with the new Amazon hi-res service. First thought was "it can't be done" because there isn't a complete API available, but he's going to contact Amazon support about it. In the meantime, somebody has chimed in that Bluesound have it on their kit. I'm following the topic.

I don't see why Amazon would restrict their API. Part of Spotify's success is having so many compatible systems out there.

Possibly it's so new they just haven't got around to releasing it yet, Martin.

Trouble is they want to sell you one of their devices, so I think we'll be waiting a long time for the API release IF it ever happens. However I do think that if they want the HD service to take off they really need to look at the people who will use it and let's be honest it ain't the spotty teenagers streaming on their phones, so getting it onto as many devices as possible can only help them sell it.
I hope they do as I'd like to use the HD version but for now I'm sticking with Spotify Family.
Airplay is fine but it's drains the battery on the host device which is a pain. Native playback is a must for me.
Be interesting to see the cancellation figures pre 90 days.
Bluesound will be delighted of course as their devices can already use Amazon HD, so their sales will be up.

For Qobuz you now need to update to the latest Volumio according to their forum.
If you have issues with Qobuz stopping after 30 seconds just log out and back in again and all should be fine.
Qobuz produced a completely new API which then forced Volumio to do a rewrite of the fix they had done over the weekend.

Thanks for the heads-up - I looked earlier and there was still no new info.

This was posted up early this morning UPDATE 23/09/2019 After a 4 days long exchange with QOBUZ technical team there is finally a solution, although not the one we were hoping for. They decided to revoke the API key and issue a new one, in order to allow only updated Volumio clients to access their service. For our users it means that to access QOBUZ again, it is required to update to latest Volumio version. We are rebuilding all Volumio versions (for all officially supported hardwares), and the new version will be available tomorrow (24/09/2019). We are sorry for those days without your favourite music, but it was not under our control and we worked as hard as possible to minimize any disruption. We will update as soon as the updates will be available. PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME USERS ARE REPORTING HAVING TO LOG OUT OF QOBUZ AND BACK IN AGAIN TO GET IT TO WORK PROPERLY This seems to be the thread Michaelangelo is using to update people. forum.volumio.org/qobuz-temporarily-not-working-from-t12936.html

I'm using the new experimental interface. I like it - everything on one screen, fewer clicks.
It helps to have a very dark, but not black, background.
