There's no messing here. Qobuz just works.
I don't need YouTube.

* Actually, I reckon you just enjoy fooling around with computers! It's even more basic for me, Jerry. Although I do like "fooling around" with computers (I used to do it for a living) the root of it is that I love finding solutions to problems, to help both myself, and others. I bet you never expected a serious reply, did you?

I used to love playing around with databases, data and programming at work. Unless I was really brave or in there on my own we always had a working system.
As soon as I got into work and for as much time as possible the music was on. No messing with any of the important stuff !

I've just done the latest update and now have Volumio 3 by default and I really don't like the layout.
Is there a way of of going back a version or am I stuck with it now?

Can you not switch off the V3 layout?
I'm sure you can download older builds. I'm glad I didn't upgrade until the new GUI is more mature.

I've just dowloaded the update (v.2.599).
Settings/Appearances
scroll to bottom.. change from the beta v3 to 2.599.
Edit: This works OK but, with me, the rt hand roundel is now superimposed on the LH art work!
I may go back to v3. I didn't find it that bad.

I'm on 2.587 and it's fine, except for the YouTube fail.

I'm on 2.587 and it's fine, except for the YouTube fail. I published the fix for that. Go on. Be brave. You know you want to.

I have been using PiCorePlayer with LMS on my NAS for some while but thought I would try Volumio again since its seems popular on this forum. It installed easily enough - the networking was a dream compared to the PCP set-up - but spent ages thorough trial and error to get it to connect to my Synology NAS (in the end I abandoned NFS and used CIFS).
I couldn't get on with the web interface which I found slow (with up-sampling on it is almost unusable) and at least to me not intuitive. I thought the App must be better but its really just the web interface wrapped-up as an App... The slowness is probably because my RPI3+ is connected wirelessly so everything has to go via two hops between browser and Volumio.
Anyway, Volumio did not last long as I prefer the LMS interface and do not have to pay to have it installed on multiple devices and for multi-room synchronisation.

I don't currently use my Pi3+ but it was fine in terms of performance with hq upsampling...must be the wireless hops.
Also I think you're supposed to use CIFS from what I recall. I didn't have any problems with it once I had the slashes the right way around...but that was with W10.

The reason I tried to use NFS at first was that I had read on a Volumio post that since Synology and Volumio use Linux they would "prefer" to use NFS - clearly not.

FWIW my two Synology NAS devices are hooked up to Volumio utilising NFS, and I'm using W10.

As mentioned above, I've now got two Synology NAS devices networked to my Pi/Volumio.
My main NAS was getting full (80% used) and had started giving me warnings so as I'd already got a second device attached to my network I decided to use that with Volumio too.
NAS #1 will store all of my non-classical music, and I'm currently moving my classical files to NAS #2. The downside is how terribly slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww it is to actually transfer the files. I can drag and drop between the two devices by opening two side-by-side browser windows but it would be almost as fast to stick the files in an envelope and post them to myself.
I'm transferring one letter of the alphabet at a time, to individual folders, and the dropped files eventually appear in the target folder as a .zip file, which then needs to be uncompressed. I'm currently 17% of the way through unzipping "E". I might get "F" done before bedtime.

Why don't you set the job up on one of the Synology units and just let it get on with it, Paul? I find that tends to be quicker.

I'm not with you, Pete. Set the job up how? I should probably have said that one Unit is on DSM 6.x.x.x and the other is on DSM 5.x.x.x Also it's not a direct copy. The files on the host NAS are in one big directory, they are only being split into alphabetical folders as they are copied to the second NAS.

I don't think the DSM version difference should make any difference. I usually mount the remote target folder in File Station on the source NAS and then copy the sub-directory / files using a copy or move command from there. If you wanted to copy selected files in order I guess you could even run a script per group in Scheduler.
I use the copy method to move new items between the UK and German NAS units over a VPN using the skip 'flag' to select only those files not already there.

The reason I mentioned the DSM version was in case you meant setting a job up in Hyper Backup, which was my original thought, but of course, you can't install Hyper Backup on DSM 5.x.x.x. as I now realise. I had a quick try at setting it up via File Station but my connection kept getting "refused" so in the end I went back to the slow and easy method. It'll take time, but I do like to have "hands-on" control.
