I tried performing an update from 2.575 to 2.587. Same story: it goes through the progress bar (without ever reporting that it doesn't like my config.txt file) and reports success at the end. Restart and it's still on 2.575.
Didn't waste any more time on it, re-burned the SD card. It's a pain opening up the Audiophonics unit but really quite straightforward to do.

Thing is, I don't do it very often but when I listen to it, it's always worth the bother.

Anyone tried Volumio 3 yet? Available through the latest update.

I've been waiting for it, must have missed the announcement.
I'll put it on a new SD card in case I need to go back for any reason.

I've just found that. I'll hit it very shortly.

I upgraded straight over the top of my existing Volumio installation, updated my modified config.txt, and Robert is now my father's brother.
There's a switch at the bottom of the "Appearance" tab that says "Enable Volumio 3 Experimental User Interface."
P.S. It took me a couple of restarts before V3 kicked in.
[EDIT] Volumio 3 interface abandoned. I was finding it more fragile than Donald Trump's ego, e.g. it kept rebooting whenever I tried to alter a setting and once it refused to restart when I actually asked it to.. It suddenly told me I needed to connect a Raspberry Pi to my setup. YouTube functionality seemed buggered...
It's too hot to mess about. Perhaps I'll switch it back on at a later date.

Not good.
Did you try connecting a Raspberry Pi to itself?

My YouTube plugin is still crap. It keeps telling me that Volumio has no access to my playlists yadda yadda yadda and giving me the red "Error. No Results" warning. I've tried deleting and reinstalling it. I've turned it off, and then back on, and I've lost count of the number of times I've restarted Volumio after every change I've made. My Google account, on the other hand, is quite convinced that "Volumio YouTube" has access to YouTube.
I've just wiped all traces. I took it out Volumio, my Google account, and rebooted everything. Reinstalled. Bugger-all difference.
This is all on my Chromebook. I'm going to see if setting things up on Windows, which should make no difference whatsoever, makes a difference.

Ok, I'll try the YouTube plugin tonight as I haven't used it for a while.

I've now reached the stage of what amounts to a desperate measure for me. Reformat the card, reload the previous version of Volumio, fire it up with crossed fingers.

All sorted, and I'm back running 2.586. One good thing came from this though. I've been listening to Radio Paradise while my albums loaded from the NAS. I'd forgotten how good it is.

Good stuff, Paul. I ran out of time last night to reinvoke my YouTube plugin, which I don't use very often.

On 2.587 I've done the Google authentication thing and it reports success. However, I cannot play anything from YouTube as it gives me decode errors.
I'll try using Google DNS settings.

Have a look at this, Martin forum.volumio.org/youtube-plugin-failed-decode-video-t12497.html It seems like you (and me too I've now discovered) are not alone.

This worked. Enable SSH if you haven't already. volumio.local/DEV/or IP-Adress/DEV/ -> SSH enable It buggered me about in a couple of places. Step 1 kept coming back as no such directory so I had to cd /data and then cd to the rest of the string one step at a time. Other than that all is well. I'm listening to Pink Floyd via YouTube at this very moment.

Thanks - I'll do that when I'm next there tomorrow evening.
On that final point, I sometimes find Linux does that for no reason that I can fathom and have to step through the directories manually.

Fook me - You guys obviously think it's worth it*, but I'd have topped myself in frustration a long time ago if I was having to fool around like this to play music! * Actually, I reckon you just enjoy fooling around with computers!

These things happen mostly because the providers (e.g. Google) change their protocols, as did Spotify some time ago.
It's good that quick fixes are issued before the next revision of software.
Look at the problems John had with his SOtM because of lack of support!
