2.572 in and working. This SD card is quite a bit faster than the previous one I was using.

I don't find the need to reboot much at all.

Me too, but it all helps. I had to reboot today as I put the Spotify patch in (modified index.js) to properly show my playlists.
Now I have Qobuz and Spotify playlists working and I have ascertained that Volumio playlists survive a new build via the MyVolumio subscription as they remain intact.

Volumio as a CD PlayerI got my little laptop external DVD drive working with Volumio today, to see how it performs as a CD player. Mine needs a powered USB hub as the Pi can't deliver enough juice to keep it working. Apparently some other models will work fine directly connected. You also need a Volumio Virtuoso or Superstar account. Put an audio CD in the drive and you get a new icon in the Browse display. Click the icon and you get a track view, complete with album artwork. It's a little buggy at the moment (doesn't always play the requested track) but this is an excellent addition to Volumio and opens up my CD collection again for those CDs (like the example Poco Blue and Gray) that don't exist in streaming as yet. As for the sound quality, really superb via my Kali reclocker despite it running from USB. It sounds as detailed and punchy as it did from my old Ayre player.

Martin,
Would you not consider ripping CDs to FLACs or similar for albums which are not available via streaming?

I already do, Sean, for the really worthwhile ones, and put them in OneDrive using the OneDrive plugin.
However, this is easier and a nice feature to have.

I've now ordered an external drive that takes 5V from a separate USB connector, which can go into my QP-1 power supply. No USB hub or dirty SMPS required. All for less than £13 on eBay.

Ok, so for the cost of a £13 computer drive and Volumio Virtuoso subscription of £2/mo (which I already have for Qobuz use), your nice Pi streamer becomes an exceedingly good CD player, too.

In my post above, it is powered separately so easier on the Pi.

Yes, that's my bug fix (the track played was one less than that selected). I haven't done the upgrade yet as in-place never seems to work for me (due to my modded config.txt file).
I'll try doing a factory reset and then upgrade.

As I said earlier, it outperforms my Ayre player of old, but then the reclocking and DAC pull way ahead now.
Not quite as good as Qobuz streaming.

It is, it makes the purchase of any high end CD player a questionable choice given that you could have a Pi-based streamer/CD player for peanuts and spend nearly all of your money on the best DAC you can get hold of.
