I used to find Spotify not very good. But now love what it does. I wish it was a bit more easier to find music on my playlist I prefer the Tidal and roon integration better that way so might try Tidal for a month Jitter and a very clean signal is the key Well I prefer Spotify on the SOtM Neo I am not impressed with the sound quality Slightly bloated on my system and it music data base is no way near as good. The integration with Roon is not as good as I hoped Thankfully only a trail

Got Volumio 2.502 up and running fine. The search across sources is very responsive now, I can look for something and get Spotify and Qobuz results.

I still can't get Qobuz Connect to work. In the Qobuz application I can click Audio Output and open the DLNA tree to find Volumio and then tick it. It just reverts to internal speakers when I try and play something, though.

That's a bugger. From reading the changelog I was hoping it had solved more of the major problems for you.

It's not a showstopper but I would like to use the power of the Qobuz UI sometime in the manner of Spotify, as well as my own playlists. I hope they fix it. I've reported it as a bug.

It just reverts to internal speakers when I try and play something, though. Yes that's what I find too. I'll only consider subscribing if they fix this. I emailed Qobuz and all they did was send me the email address for Volumio ...

I'll push Michelangelo on it. I'm sure someone will fix it.

Martin, am I right in thinking you are trialling the Studio version of Qobuz?
I'm wondering whether you have reached any conclusions on ultimate sound quality and whether it's worth the extra outlay, assuming they fix the app ...

OK, my thoughts on Qobuz so far.
I trialled Hi-Fi and after much comparison, track by track, I decided that it was not worth keeping as it was no better than Spotify HQ, just very slightly different. That is not a slur on 16/44, rather it's a compliment towards 320k Ogg.
I am now on Studio and able to listen to material up to 24/192. It's material dependent, but at its best (e.g. Supertramp - Crime of the Century) it does sound very good indeed in a non-spectacular manner. By that, I mean lots of tiny details and cues that make it real. Better instrumental definition, better spacial information, more vivid dynamics, just closer to the master tape.
As to whether it's worth it, I'll let you know after living with it for a month.

An interesting image appeared on the Volumio Facebook page a couple of hours ago, with a "stay tuned" message.

I voted 'Yes' just for you, Paul. The 'Nos' have it at the moment!
Volumio versus Alexa?

I voted 'Yes' just for you, Paul. The 'Nos' have it at the moment! Volumio versus Alexa? As I said in my post in the thread unless you actually try it you'll never know how useful, or unuseful it'll prove. As you know I started adding Alexa for a bit of fun, but you'll never believe how useful the little things can be, like carrying two handfuls of dirty dishes and being able to turn on the kitchen light before I get there. I know that sounds trivial, possibly "daft" even, but I find it helpful. It's also handy being able to turn the loo light on in the middle of the night as I get out of bed, or the bedside lamp on before I get upstairs, or turning the main bedroom light off (or on) whilst remaining tucked up in the warmth of my pit. I'd rather have the feature added (in Volumio) and then be able to turn it off if I didn't use it, rather than not have it and wonder what it might be like.

Help....I'm clearly doing something daft when trying to get the official Spotify plugin working on the current 2.502 version of free Volumio. The plugin installs, I've entered my settings of user / pwd etc, the plugin shows as active. I have Premium. But Spotify doesn't show in the Browse tab...
I believe I typed the correct user / pwd and have clicked save. I've tried both my Spotify username and email address (both work via the web interface on my PC). I have rebooted.
My Echo Dot connects to Spotify so I'm a bit miffed that Volumio has a problem (or I have a problem with it).
Any ideas?

You need to restart Volumio after adding that plug-in before Spotify shows in browse.
Also add the very useful Spotify Connect plug-in so that you can use the Spotify interface.
EDIT: I found it worked with my e-mail address only back when I started using it. It might accept either now, but it didn't then.

Tried username and email address....reintalled both plugins too. Several restarts. Not sure what's going on but it has to be something simple.
I did notice during the installs that there were some failed connections and errors. The install still reported as successful. I'll try reinstalling tomorrow in some key files are missing.

Seems to be working now. I signed up to myvolumio free, reinstalled the plugins - this time no errors and it's in the browse menu.
Maybe spotify now requires myvolumio.
