The Homeless World Cup homelessworldcup.org/The Homeless World Cup Foundation supports a network of 74 local grassroots projects around the world. While we are most famous for organising and delivering the Homeless World Cup annual tournament, we also aim to support and develop grassroots projects that utilise football as a tool for social change. Michael Sheen has admitted he gave "everything I have" to fund the Homeless World Cup in Cardiff.
The Bafta-nominated actor revealed he gave a substantial amount of his own money to fund the event which is being held in the capital between July 27 and August 3. He had to " put it all on the line" after funding fell short late in the planning stages, he told BBC 5 Live on Tuesday. The 17th Homeless World Cup is currently underway in Bute Park, Cardiff, with teams of homeless players from 51 nations taking part. The Hollywood star has been an enthusiastic backer of the tournament throughout. " A few months back we got into a bit of a state and so I essentially put everything I have into this," he said. " I put it all on the line to make sure that this could happen." He added: " We had a bit of a shocker about a few months ago where things went awry and it looked like this might not happen.
" And so that is why I am so excited and relieved that we are here and it is happening, and it is going so brilliantly. Sheen was asked if he was scaling back his acting work in America in order to do more community work in the UK. " Well I was, but now I've got to pay for this," he responded. " So I'm going to have to work a bit more now because this has cost me more than I expected it to." SOURCE

Michael Sheen is a top man I saw him talking about the event recentiy, on The Last Leg (he's actually been on a few times), and he came across as a genuine sort of bloke, who is passionate about what he believes in.

Man ordered to collect fridge he threw off Spanish cliff
Police have forced a man to retrieve a fridge he threw down a ravine near the southern Spanish city of Almeria.
A tweet posted by the Guardia Civil shows the unidentified man hauling the discarded fridge back up the hillside.
He was fined €45,000 (£41,000; $50,000) and made to dispose of the appliance appropriately.
An associate of the man filmed the fly-tipping incident and is heard in the clip joking about recycling as the fridge tumbles down the cliff.
"We're going to recycle it!" he said. "How many twists and turns has it done?"
The Guardia Civil is also investigating the company the man is working for.
The authorities also posted a video of a man throwing a washing machine down a hillside and said they were investigating the incident.
