I've discovered an alcohol-free wine that isn't actually awful. I'm a fan of the Muscat grape, and so I thought I'd give this a go. Torres Natureo De-Alcoholised Muscat. It's not going to temp any wine lovers to change their evil ways, but if you fancy a glass of something cold on a summer's day, that isn't going to leave you with a thick head by dinner, then you could do worse. Firstly, let me say, it's a bit watery, which seems common with alcohol-free plonk but the flavour is quite pleasant. For a fiver a bottle, I'd call it a successful experiment. It's also suitable for Vegans, and for Vegetarians.

Fresh strawberries, double cream, extra-thick double cream, and a sprinkle of Stevia to further the impression of decadence.
It's better than sex, especially when you've forgotten what sex was like.
Message ends.

Way back then, mid 80s I decided I would go veggie.
That was easy, until I realised that biscuits, yogurt, cake, sweets and many other items were not vegetarian Not quite as obvious as I had thought. The moment came in Sainsburys when I saw 'Vegetarian Yogurt' - oh that means some aren't, confirmed by looking at the ingredients. Muller yogurt used to be a favourite.
Eating out was even more interesting as meals could look vegetarian but have some dead animal ingredients in them. Eventually we had meals labelled vegetarian My next thought, what about the deserts ? Some baffled waiting staff, when asked if the pud was veggie
These days it is much easier

I avoid cow-juice entirely except for breakfast cereal, and even then am happy to use Ruth's oat milk if that is what's there.
I never put milk or substitutes in hot drinks.

Due to the information around in the mid 80s I looked around at improving my newly adopted veggie diet as there was allegedly so much missing from it. I added good things, fruit, veg, nuts
Much rubbish published and now in 2024 I smile when I read that the healthy diet for us all is - Good food, mostly plants

Only veggie, and not vegan I'm afraid, but this stuff is quite tasty. I had some for dessert with fresh strawberries tonight. I've also got a pot of their Rhubarb flavour in the fridge, and there are several other flavours too. For us diabetics, it contains 9.5g per 100g of sugar. The pots are 350g each, and it''s currently on offer at Sainsbury's for £1.25 per pot instead of two quid. Benefits of Kefir MAY include It's nutrient dense. Provides beneficial bacteria. May protect against bacterial infection. May reduce blood pressure. May reduce the risk of heart disease. May help to restore balance in the gut and improve digestion. May be suitable for those with lactose intolerance. Supports healthy bones. Contains probiotics so may reduce inflammation. May alleviate the inflammatory response associated with allergies. www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/health-benefits-kefir

That's a bugger, they're not available online at Sainsbury's. I rather fancied trying them, especially with the roasted veg as a side.

Pain Could you try Tesco out for the items Sainsburys don't do ? No, not without incurring a second delivery charge. I pay for an annual Delivery Pass at Sainsbury's already so it would work out as quite an expansive veggie slice.

They are heaving with saturated fat. I'd have to be seriously hungry at a petrol station with no other options, LOL.
