We have a standard jar of Options Belgian Chocolate in the cupboard. I tried it recently, it's shockingly, soul-jarringly sweet - so much so that I only had a couple of mouthfuls and threw the rest away. I would need a sick bag to drink that stuff.

Belgian Options - sugars 52g/100g & 5.8g per serving. Vegan Options - sugars 18.3g/1008 & 2g per serving. Both also contain aspartame sweetener..

You're going to have to start cooking, Mike, it's the ultimate solution.
That way you can regulate precisely what goes into your pies, or, more to the point, what DOESN'T go into ytour pies.

It'd be a good excuse to assemble a Kitchen Audio System, Mike.

Shop bought pies and burgers never going to be "healthy" no matter what you put in them - doesn't stop me having the occasional Kate and Sidney ...

Can I sneak "P escatarian" on the end of Vegetarian, Vegan and Plant Based foods? I just wanted to point out that Sainsbury's currently has lumps of fresh salmon at half-price. Sainsbury’s Skin On ASC Scottish Salmon Side Fillet (Approx. 1Kg to 1.2kg) - £15.00 - £12.50/kg (which is what I've just ordered) Sainsbury’s Whole ASC Scottish Salmon (Approx. 2kg) - £15.00 - £7.50/kg or you can go posh, and lazy Sainsbury’s ASC Scottish Salmon with Spiced Orange Glaze, Taste the Difference 750g - £15.00 £20.00 /Kg Mine will be cut into steaks, frozen, and hopefully provide 4 meals for my £15.00 RSPCA Assured, ASC Certified, blah-blah-blah

From what I know of the conditions fish are kept in and the way they are killed it is worse than the way they treat animals Sea lice a big problem living on factory farmed salmon and have spread into the wild

I'm pretty sure Sainsbury's employ someone to remove the lice before they sell them.

Not sure I could ever go as far as being vegan Mike, but I normally eat veggie at least 2 to 3 days a week. My rules, no ultra processed foods, very few processed foods. Read the label and if I don't know what it is or it's not a 'real food' it goes back on the shelf. If there's more than about 5 or 6 ingredients it goes back too. I haven't eaten a boxed breakfast cereal for over 15 years, probably the most uber processed edible product in a box - not a food in my book. I don't buy very much pre-packaged food at all.
I cook from scratch all the time - never been one for a ready meal, they might be convenient but they taste shit! Fun fact, the UK eats significantly more ready meals than any other European country, about 2 times the French, 6 times the Spanish and much, much more than Eastern European countries . . . how's that working out for us health wise?

I have come to the conclusion that this stuff... ...with some fruit, and a sprinkle of crunchy granola is a bit of a game-changer for breakfast, and/or supper. "Proper" yoghurt, with 3.0 g of sugar per 100g, and as the name suggests, 5.0 g of fat per 100g. They also make a )% (fat-free) version. Suitable for Vegetarians, but no mention of vegans. Sorry, Mike.

Twas a journey of discovery when I went veggie in the 80s
Knew it would be hard, but it turned out not to be that bad - then. Earlier years not so easy unless you cooked from ingredients
My discoveries came with foods that were 'obviously' vegetarian but turned out not to be, cake, biscuits, yoghurt and others
Going vegan was much easier as I was virtually there anyway. Cutting out the few veggie foods also dropped out the added sugar
Discovering the biome and adding more fruits, vegetables and seeds has been very good for me

Sorry, Mike. Removing dairy from my intake was a step up for my health each time I knocked one out. One at a time, not sure why it was so long ago Overall breathing has improved, less claggy in the throat, fewer colds which go away faster, headaches gone, probably more I forgot
