Supposed to be seeing Paloma Faith tonight, not looking good at the moment, snowing heavily and I'm on a hill! I've just been outside shovelling the cars free. Do you think you'll make it, Tim?

Unsure at the moment, the gig is going ahead, they just put it out on Twitter. Lots of people are upset they won't make it from West Wales though, the valley areas especially.
I think I'll give it a go if I can get out, but heavy snow is forecast between 5-6pm tonight. Worst case scenario I'll have to leave the car at the bottom of the hill by the seafront, as it doesn't take much to make the hill up to the flat unnavigable. It's pretty steep and not a main route, I don't fancy sliding down it and colliding with the pier!
Don't want to miss Paloma though, she's brilliant live - a born entertainer.

Still white and bloody cold here. I've got a hospital appointment tomorrow, which amounts to two cab rides and a train journey either way. I'm sort of hoping to get a "sorry, we've had to cancel" phone call in the morning.

Just been out and it's not too bad actually. The car was under a good 5" of snow, but I've cleared that away in preparation. The roads are all OK and it's stopped snowing, so if that stays about the same, no probs. Only a handful of brave mad souls out walking on the seafront though, the wind coming off the Bristol Channel is savage. Tomorrow morning might be fun out there, good job I've got the day off EDIT:The heavy snow is now forecast for 8/9pm, could be fun getting home for me then, as I'm going to go and worry it, if it comes.

It's snowing again here in Sevenoaks, and quite hard too.

Piece of cake, in and out to the gig without a problem. Very few empty seats either, so it seems the valley folk made in it too Bloody cold out though, brrrrrrrrrr

It was a bit dicey around my way this morning, but once on the motorway things were fine. This helped, together with mode 4 (soft responses) in my ECU map.

Martin
What about those ice socks (?) for your lane ?

I had a set of Autosocks for the BMW and they were good, but were destroyed after one run down the motorway. The problem is, I'm on country lane until I join the motorway. Where do I stop to remove them? Do I put them back on when I exit the motorway? Great idea, very poor practically. The spray gets me out of trouble for a very short burst. The ECU 'soft' mode helps in snow. However, there is no avoiding doing it properly and I have the original wheels stored in the garage doing nothing. Having researched it thoroughly, I'm going to have a set of Michelin CrossClimate + tyres fitted on them and just swap the wheels around each winter. These are the ONLY tyres rated for winter/snow but also capable of taking a motorway pounding without destroying themselves after a few weeks. They are getting superb reviews. I shall wait until spring has arrived and then see whether the prices have come down. Next winter will be different for me!

Sounds like the plan.
Brilliant sunshine here now and so much light with the snow reflecting

Made it to work - just! M3 and A322 pretty treacherous and it's still snowing in places. My village lane was challenging. So glad I have winter tyres fitted now. Just been outside gritting at work. Not many staff in by the looks of it.

There is no weather at all in the north of England this morning. Apparently, it got held up at the border in some sort of pre-Brexit dress rehearsal. Now, it's all bunched up in the south.
Well, that's the only rational reason I can think of as to why the BBC is only reporting about the south. It's not like they have ever done it before.

Well, I haven't covered a lesson for several years but needs must as we're very short of staff. Such fun!

There is no weather at all in the north of England this morning. Just a bit further south than you Chris but yet again the Wirral is ok , well my bit is looking at the Welsh hills , which is what protects us I suspect.

Not many staff in by the looks of it. I remember going to work from my little road, up a country lane or three and be told later that some people couldn't get in. Mickey takers as I knew where they lived and drove past their houses

It's snowing again so getting home could be another challenge. We've released all staff to go home at 3pm which will hopefully beat the big downfall due later.
