Amazing watching the snow fall outside our windows. It comes down very calmly then sudden gusts of wind send it swirling around like a tornado. It's rather mesmerising!

It's still falling here, methinks the journey home is going to be a real trial.

Wind chill here reported as -13C at the moment. Feels it. Wrapped up like an Eskimo walking the dogs the wind chill was 'interesting' across the fields. Wondering if taking my inside/outside thermometer with me would give me a reading on the wind chill

Amusing drive home. Not.
M3 pretty bad but sustained 30mph for most of the way. Village terrible, had to be pushed through it, then needed to be towed up the lane. Absolutely no grip, couldn't even rock it. Car abandoned in lane as gates wouldn't open against the drifts.
No idea how I'll get into work tomorrow.

Yup , snow and wind a problem here too . I'm back at work on Saturday so decided to clear the snow from around my car . I now have a mound of snow in my garden which is higher than the car . And it's still snowing I live about 10 minutes from the M80 where hundreds of cars were stranded for hours . We haven't left the house now for two days because of the state of the roads

Not sure if you guys over there are getting hit with "bomb-cyclone" news but that's what they called our last major storm here in New England and it's what they are calling this one that's coming tomorrow.
I don't think this storm will be as bad but the last one was complete white-out conditions, I was on the road and had to keep grabbing the windshield wipers because they were building up ice. Schools were converted into shelters. It was the first time I'd heard of hospitals calling all patients to cancel all appointments.
Boston Globe reports that this storm could be more dangerous than the previous one but with less snow.

See when they say don't travel unless absolutely necessary - I wish they'd just say don't go to work. Putting in 6hrs of my time to support a multi million £ company isn't absolutely necessary.
It'll never happen though.

Not sure if you guys over there are getting hit with "bomb-cyclone" news It's being called "The Beast from The East" here. Jokes about the Russians hacking it! We're going to do our best to get into work now, have to leave my car as unmovable but we're going to try to get Ruth's out and see how bad it is out there. If we make it down the single-track lane and through the village then we'll probably be ok.

Wow man Martin, nevermind pissing into the wind, this one sounds like it's pissing into your cornflakes. I've been there man. I hope it all works out for you and everyone tomorrow. I'm taking gf to cancer treatment follow ups in Boston in morning should be a wacky commute.

No sign of snow here. The wind has been blowing quite strongly for a few days. It was -8 degrees c at the beginning of the week. It did snow but it did not settle for long.
The wind is calming down today, and it is forecast to be about 10 degrees C. I am happy with that.

Inch or two of snow here. Had snow mixed rain last night which has frozen. The frozen crust is called 'Skara' in Swedish. The roads are eerily quiet..
I'm lucky not having to commute any more but back when I did I had winter tyres for such occasions. Even so, without studs, you have to be a little careful.
