My Zero Zone 01-A is in the country and tracking has gone 'dark' which usually indicates our good old HM Customs & Excise are sitting on it drinking tea. The status is 'Import clearance start', which fits.
Worryingly, another tracking entry mentions Parcelforce which immediately leads to sinking of heart and depression.
Any bets on when it might arrive?

Just got a text message from Parcelforce saying it will be delivered today between 13:45 and 14:45 by Harry. That's a bit fast!
Nice, but the options given don't include "just leave it by a side door" so I am depending on fate for 'Harry' to leave it and not return it to the depot.

They've been fine here recently too.
Let's hope they are finally getting a grip.

Harry turned up 30 mins late but I let him off because I hadn't expected the Zero Zone to arrive until next week.

To my shock EVRi delivered a parcel to work yesterday on time and in the right place! They've got my last two spot on as well. (Posted while touching wood, cuddling a black cat, and with my fingers crossed, which made it really awkward to type).

I 'spoke' too soon it seems. EVRi are back to their old tricks: apparently I wasn't in and there was no safe place when the tried to deliver at 16:00 yesterday. It is to a business address and it was the usual driver (Heidi) and people were on site until 18:00. So EVRi are still lying.

I notice that you can now rate your Evri courier. They're using a similar model to Amazon and your feedback has to be 'approved'.
On Friday my courier actually arrived early which was a surprise! He took a delivery photo too. I hope they can continue to make improvements.

Evri up to their old tricks.
Waited for my parcel this evening, then got told it would be delayed. Few minutes later I'm told they tried to deliver but I supposedly wasn't in ... Don't suppose it was because they were running behind??

I ordered a tasty new wire-stripper and my heart sank because it's being delivered by our favourite courier.
It takes skill to achieve such a bad reputation in such a short space of time.

Well, things do seem to be slowly changing at Evri.
Having made a complaint on the chatbot last night I had a personalised reply this morning from an agent who said they will be monitoring the delivery, which is due today. I'm not entirely convinced by their reason for the delay, 'missed connection to the courier' - what's a photo of our front door doing if it wasn't out for delivery? But this is progress to have one customer service agent dedicated to an enquiry at least.

Evri are just disgraceful.
I got a note saying they would now deliver between 7-9pm. I just found out now they have "delivered" but left my parcel and one for a neighbour outside the communal entrance to our block where any punter could have taken them.
I have left the appropriate feedback for the courier - let's see if Evri get back to me.
They really do set new levels of customer service!!

That's precisely what they normally do to me, Jules, as you may remember from the dodgy pictures I've posted that eVri insist on taking outside of the communal entrance to my little block of maisonettes.

The problem is that sometimes you have no idea who will be delivering your stuff - this was an AliExpress job from China!
I won't use Evri given a choice.

Interesting angle from The Spectator on the cost of our next day deliveries. www.spectator.co.uk/article/the-price-others-pay-for-our-next-day-deliveries/Evri surpassed themselves on their last effort for me. They managed to deliver my parcel to an address not even in my post code area. Evri then told me the parcel was lost but it mysteriously appeared when I was out - possibly the people who received it brought it over or the courier realised his mistake. Difficult to see how they got the address so badly wrong ...

It makes you not want to cross the road with a courier van approaching.

That is, indeed an interesting article, Jules, but not really saying anything we didn't already know, and probably ignored, for our own peace of mind. Low basic pay and what we used to call "piece work" is a recipe for disaster, as evidenced by that article. The system where your handset "turns red" if you're not keeping up with the perceived nominal rate of work is like something out of a dystopian nightmare made real. It wouldn't have been out of place in Terry Gilliam's "Brazil," Orwell's "1984," or even, going way back, Čapek's play R.U.R. ‘Rossum's Universal Robots’, which actually introduced us to the word "roobot" which is Czech, the word robota means ‘forced labour’. Sorry, rambling. As the article suggests, there does, I think, need to be urgent legislation passed to protect both drivers, and the public. But, big business...

It's possible that my local Evri guy is under such terrible pressure that his performance is so poor. Or he could just be an idiot.
The one guy you never see rushing is the local UPS guy. He reminds me of Gru from Despicable Me. But Gru has a sense of humour. I have never seen this guy smile, ever. I once had a bit of an argument with him and after 5 minutes or so I realised resistance was futile and gave up ...
