And there's always something new to try - the voyage of discovery.

My leaving present has finally arrived. I must admit I don't know anything about Royal Lochnagar. Any views? EDIT: I don't like what TapaTalk did to my camera photo

Nice present. It's a while since I tried one and I don't know if a special edition differs to the regular 12 YO, but it's different to Ben Nevis, not as punchy or full flavoured, assuming it's the same that is. Not too sweet from memory, which I prefer. Not too many Speysides in my cabinet these days, but Highland malts like this I normally get on with more. If your daily driver is BN then I don't think it'll topple it . . . but who knows? Only one way to find out

The Royal Lochnagar is actually very pleasant and gluggable, not at all heavy and lighter than my fave Ben Nevis 12 year old.
It's a good addition to my cabinet for warm summer evenings when I don't want a tipple that's too strong.

I would say it's perfect for a summer tipple and you can never have too much whisky in the cabinet. Save the Blue Nun for winter

Hmmm ... Even with various Black Friday offers around I can't settle on a whisky to buy and the cupboard is now bare!

Got a nice deal on a bottle of Blair Athol 12 'Flora and Fauna' which has been on my list for some time.

This is a very fine whisky.
Rich amber colour, hints of tropical fruits and caramel on the nose.
Delicately balanced on the palate with toffee, biscuity caramel and raisins; gentle warming spices without a hint of harshness. Sweet, but not cloying and a merest whiff of smoke on the finish.
The perfect Winter drink.

Very nice eclectic collection there Clive! Hi Jules, thanks - I like to vary my flavours though I tend to come back to Springbank of one sort of another. I wasn't happy with the picture quality so I had another go - I added a couple of empties and an imposter!

A couple nice Irish Pot still Whiskeys there 🙂 Having enjoyed Redbreast 12 (I'm not fussy about colour, any and every is great! ) - I wanted to try Yellow Spot in particular. Redbreast 21 is amazing but I've only had a taste..though it's pricey, more than I want to pay.

Yellow spot is very nice, I'd say smoother than red breast 12.
