To be honest, for an everyday sipping dram I think JW Black Label is OK. I'd choose it over some of the cheaper mainstream single malts. So yup, worth a try

To be drunk from paper cups, through a waxed-paper straw?

I wonder what the lining to the paper container is. Foil or plastic?
I've just ordered two real glass bottles. Hazelburn 10 year and Glen Scotia Victoriana. I'm going through a Campletown phase.
I also have a Springbank 12 cask strength unopened. These are awaiting my finishing Laphroaig Cairdeas - Port & Wine. It won't take long!

Will do Jules...oh there's a Glengoyne Legacy in the cupboard too [EDIT - I've had too much whisky....my mind was playing tricks (hick) - the Glengoyne went a few months ago, it actually Grendronach Revival]. I may save that for winter. The Hazelburn is likely to be the the next one to open. The choices....such hard decisions in life W3 by

It's funny how in some countries Black Label is somewhat of a national obsession and a slightly curious status symbol.
I remember taking a bottle to Egypt and selling it at an inflated price to supplement my student funds. I also remember some geezer going nearly apopleptic in a bar because they didn't have BL!!

Glengoyne 12.
Fresh and zesty tropical notes on the nose and palate, with moorish sweet caramel, biscuit and gentle spices …
The sherry isn’t overdone in the least, there’s an elegant subtlety and complexity to this spirit. Develops a wonderful harmony after some time in the glass.
Utterly delicious. A steal at 40 quid let alone 31 that I paid …

Thanks Clive, it's over priced at £55 but that's OK as I try not to buy whisky on Amazon. Last bottle I bought was £39.99 I guess I'll have to wait until Springbank opens up again... worth the wait though and I do have a reasonable stock of their other bottling's

Hi Tim, I got it for £46...prices vary a lot when supply is low. I ought to sell my Springbank 12 cask strength....it’s on for £115 currently. However, I’ll drink it.
