I know there are quite a few of us here who have enjoyed using Paul Stewart's record cleaning fluid, but since this is now out of production, I'm wondering which fluid you have moved onto or gone back to?

I've used Clearaudio for years. Very good stuff, gets the records clean and leaves a nice sheen when dry.

There was talk (here?) that MCRU were going to be selling Paul's The Right Stuff... but all has gone quiet on that front. Shame, cos the poor by comparison Tonar fluid I'm using at present will be running out soon. Perhaps DB will see this thread and update us with any progress...

In comparison to the Clearaudio, what other fluids have you used Martin?

I've used a reasonably good fluid on eBay and something from so long ago that I forget its name. I've also made my own in the past but it wasn't that good due to using photographic wetting agent.

Has anyone tried any of the MoFi fluids?
I'm tempted to try as my preference would be for an alcohol free fluid if poss ...

Every time I asked Paul he came up with a different excuse as to why it could not be re introduced.
I have given up.
I use L'Art Du Son which for £30 a bottle and mixed with 5 litres of distilled water is a no brainer in my book.
The MoFi fluids are also very good.

David, didn't you used to sell the Clearaudio? It seems to be harder to get now.

The MoFi Deep Cleaner should in theory be used with their rinse product. I don't know whether this is pure marketing to sell you two products or not....but it results in extra hassle. It's a real shame that Paul's recipe isn't on offer as I found it so much better than MoFi. I might use L'Art Du Son again but I only clean sporadically and am put off by the mould which can form in the stored mixed fluid - even though it's supposed to be ok once shaken up.

Yes I used Art du Son previously - I was in contact with the producer about the mould. The white globules you get if you leave it in storage for a while is fine - you simply shake the bottle to get rid. If you leave it a long, long time you might get grey / black particles and these are the ones to avoid as it is a sign of biodegredation... They recommend you use the mixed liquid within a few months. So I never worried after that. However I found I got better results with Paul's recipe - I can't say whether that's due to the fluid or my cleaning skills being fine honed over time though LOL I'm not so sure about trying the MoFI now after Clive's experience!

Forgot to say that I'm very disappointed that there will be no more 'The Right One' - the stuff is so good I had no reason to try anything else!
