Could be from a user that had the brightness turned right up, but it's really not necessary when auto-brightness takes care of that.

"Screen burn," no matter how *light* would set my alarm bells ringing. I shall report back

Best way to transfer from old phone to new phone As simple as swapping the SIM ? Not that simple! Make sure the old phone has Google backup enabled. If just enabling, give it time to backup. Restore from Google backup on the new phone.

Just to warn you Android users that Apple are up to their dirty tricks again, excluding the ability to communicate globally with new features that only work with other Apple users. The common example is Facetime, but they have been doing it with messaging and now other areas. At least Android makes its functionality universal. A lesson for all. www.xda-developers.com/ios-17-beta-1/

Is Backup
Settings Google Backup ? Appears to be backed up
How to restore your phone from a Google backup
When you reach the Copy apps & data screen, tap Next. On the Use your old device screen, tap on Can't use old device. Sign in to your Google account and agree to the Terms of Service. Select what you want to restore to your device, then tap Restore.

Well that was interesting
Plugged my Oppo in assuming it needed charging and it took me all the way through installing things I didn't know I had, registering my Google account SIM still in my old LG.
Screen goes blank every now and again and needs much tapping for it to come back. Have left it charging

Impressive piece of kit. Fast, excellent screen quality, no signs of burn in Much more usable than my old LG Still to put the SIM in Currently playing around with it as a little computer There are many things I don't understand, especially after watching YouTube clips They give the answer - I don't know what the question is So many apps have installed themselves. Need a responsible adult or maybe a 10 year old to sort me out

Well, you do have several emotional support dogs.
Yes, the Oppo is a seriously good bit of kit. Great camera, too (see my car post).

The start up screen on this ere Oppo Android changed without me asking
I now have pics of things I don't want. Different each time, celebs I don't know, food and other Googling to find out how to change back to the black and grey I have instructions that don't work My version of Android may be different Takes me to all sorts of options I don't want, barely understand
Is there a simple way back to what I had, or simple black ?

What do you mean by "start up screen"? Do you mean the home screen or something that appears during a restart? Is this a default browser window? Which browser?
It's very rare that an Android update will change anything. Did you install a dodgy app that generates pop-ups?

The screen I get when I first turn on, before password
Few apps installed, no dodgy to my knowledge but could be.

Sounds like you've downloaded "Wallpaper" app, Mike, whether you knew it or not. This *might* help.

As with so many of these things it is similar to what I see, not the same Mostly it pointed me at the Wallpaper and I was able to be rid of the annoyance after a few tries and 2 reboots
Thanks Paul

I'll be getting a new budget Android phone soon.
My phone is falling apart after two recent incidents but somehow refuses to die completely!
