Was thinking Motorola or should that be Lenovo G5 or wait for Nokia 3 at the same price. Nokia 5 is more similar spec to the G5 but another £30 (at least). UK release dates on the Nokia's are as always fluid and secret - reportedly end of June. All are Nougat 7.0. G5 reports are good about RF side of things. You'd expect the 3 & 5 to be good too.
Wadda you reckon? Is there another contender?

These Moto e3 XT1700 I've been setting up for staff seem ok. Still prefer a 950, though.

Yeah I like the tiles and look of W phones but it's time to move on apps wise.
I need to do it soon too as lack of Tapatalk is driving me nuts and Edge browser its playing up, keeps closing on me for no apparent reason.
I'm going to buy and get a sim only this time. I can a much better deal days deal and phone that way.
Apparently the Moto G4 is still worth looking at and even cheaper, but it's too big for my tastes..

SIM only is the way to go. I don't want to be tied to contracted phones.

It was me. For £60 I think it's brill. Android 6 though; not 7: Like the clip-art. It gets a Mr Whippy 🍦🍦🍦🍦 rating. If you want to spend more, this is £115:

Interesting phones you guy are coming up with..
I'm after something pretty good camera wise. A step up from the 8mp I currently have. Having tried my daughters Huawei camera it was excellent. Reception is truly awful though. I think 5" screen max is as big as I need / want in my pocket. That counts out the Cubot and the Blackview. What a lot of memory and battery you get for the money on the Blackview.
The search goes on.. Now to look up the Moto E3. Ah that's out. 1GB ram, 8GB Storage, 8mp camera. My search narrows. I'm after 2-3GB ram, 16 or more GB Storeage, >8mp camera, 13mp seems good enough. I know mps aren't the be all though.

The reason I got it was for the screen size, on account of my eyesight. The other was the battery. I had an old Motorola Matrix 4 and the battery life was hopeless.

Yes big screen and very scalable font and other sizes of 7.0 Nougat is a great feature. I'm leaning towards 'Hello Moto' Loudspeaker qualify was an issue on one chat forum but others say it's as good as or better than similar priced phones. Finger print reader and fast charger are positives.

That should have been Motorola Atrix 4. The first Dual Core mobile. That had a fingerprint reader. Never used it.

I got a Motorola G5!
Amazon next day. Setting up no probs, easy porting of contacts, photos auto save to OneDrive directly.
Overall impression is good. The general app experience is more integrated than Windows phone. Tapatalk, Racquet tune, Messenger opening fast, BBC iPlayer app, Instagram all good. Maps and nav work very well. Quicker to search for places and find them / get going I think, but Here drive and MS derivatives were good too. The was no speed indicator or speed limit warning, but there's an add on app for that. It works but jury is still out on how well it manages speed limit changes, esp in rural areas.
I went add free on Tapatalk and it's great.
Generally the phone is faster. More ram, octacore processer, you'd expect that. Plenty fast enough for me, even with lots of apps running.
Signal strength in our quite challenging rural area is no problem. Even is there is one or no bars I can make and receive calls. Marginally better than my old 640 in fact. Phew that's a relief. Being landed with an iPhone or Samsung or Haewei would suck!
Battery life is almost double the 640 with typical usage for me. Okay the 640 was two years old and the W10 upgrade certainly didn't make it better.. Moto 10w fast charger certainly kicks the charge in. Doesn't get too warm either.
The finger print reader is great. Allowing multiple digits and at various angles. Much easier then typing in pin every time..
SD storage card worked for photos taken on the 640. As I have them all on One and Google drive I reformatted anyway. Chose to integrate the SD storage so it sees the extra a one seemless mass.
Speaker volume and quality exceeds the 640's. No problem there then.
Camera (13mp) is def better than the 640's 8mp.
Swype is great. Predictive text more intuitive straight out of the box. Sweden Lang support good. It's also easier to edit/change search strings in the browser than Windows. That always frustrated me. Editting text to the letter is much better than W phone.
All in all, I can see why it's the most popular mobile OS on the planet. 70% share I read somewhere. Bye-bye Windows phone,
Hello Moto Google!

Forgot to write what I miss about W phone :-
The live tiles, both look and live updates are a great feature of W phones.
Back to what's better on the G5, forgot to say the screen brightness is just right but it is perfectly legible even in direct sunlight. How have they managed that. It's the first phone I can say that about!

Well several days of use and I'm converted. Things are just more fluid and joined up. I'm more connected with the kids with instant opening Messenger, Snapchat and a full version of Instagram, not the 6tag W version. Tapatalk is also a better more photo rich version but you do need the ad free version or it's to cluttered up. Batt life is exactly double. That's impressive.
I've become used to the notifications in the top left corner. The icons / home screen is very reminiscent of my Symbian / Nokia days. Not very imaginative like the live tiles but functional.
So all in all def no going back.

I was playing with a Hudl 2 today, testing an Android app. Very pleasant tablet for such a cheap price.

I tried a Hudl a good while back and though it was good.
Got Marie a Lenovo Yoga on Android and she's happy with that. She'd bought herself the cheapie new Kindle but didn't like the build quality / plastic screen feel. Not a patch on the HW quality of the previous one. It is faster and more generic Android like though. I added Google Play store to it (now much easier to do than the older Kindles), but it still has all the Amazon crap on it. I only use it to control Jriver via Gizmo.

The Nokia 3 is available now. £129. Good price. Only 8MP camera but if done well it could be adequate.
Marie is interested in one..
