That's what I'm after, I think I needed your gentle words to guide me looking at the last screen. Now to take some crappy but sufficiently good enough photos !
I couldn't see that when I searched t'internet. They all pointed me at apps to reduce the photo after it was taken What phrase did you use to find that Paul ?
Could do with a default setting for non serious users or summat

Shows how my bad assumptions didn't give you the answer you needed! 1. I always shoot at highest resolution and photo reduce as needed 2. Assumed the photos were for yourself

Looking at MartinT 's phone, the OPPO X3 Lite Am I right in thinking the screen and the battery cannot be replaced / need to go to a specialist repair place ?

Looking at MartinT 's phone, the OPPO X3 Lite Am I right in thinking the screen and the battery cannot be replaced / need to go to a specialist repair place ? Correct. Sadly, almost no new phone models have replaceable batteries any more. However, they are often larger capacity (the Oppo will last two full days of average usage) and tend to be a little more reliable these days, easily lasting their expected 3-4 year lifespan. I've never come across any phone with a user replaceable screen. That's always specialist but many service shops can do it nowadays.

Thanks Martin My LG can take both
That seems to flaunt Right to Repair or at least stick a coupe of fingers up to it

No, it doesn't any more than a laptop that needs to be returned for a new screen.
Right to repair is about spares being more available so that you can repair it yourself if you so wish. We can buy screens for most of our model laptops at work and do them ourselves if we so wish. It's the same with phones but even more fiddly and you run the risk of wrecking it in the process. Almost everything is available on eBay.
Right to repair is mostly aimed at Apple who make it incredibly difficult to get repairs or parts from third party agents, forcing the sheeple to go to Apple stores for repairs or replacement. Since they paid twice as much as necessary for the device in the first place, you would think their users should expect a platinum level service from their stores, rather than the right to repair.

Your LG has a user replaceable screen?

They sell them on Ebay so I assume so

They sell them on Ebay so I assume so Then you've misunderstood. Your LG is exactly as repairable as my Oppo. Screens are available, but you would be very courageous to try it yourself when it needs specialist tools to do the job.

I honestly don't think a low end kit phone is for you, Mike. Provided you look after it, an Android phone should easily last its service life of three versions of Android.
The guys in the Three shop recognised my Oppo and a chap in an Oppo t-shirt was there to promote the brand for the day. They were all saying what an incredibly good phone it is and talked about the great battery life, something that really impresses me. We already know that Oppo is China's biggest phone manufacturer and they said the only thing holding back sales in the UK is brand awareness. I agree and a part of me wants to keep it a secret!
Anyway, buy whatever suits you but remember - if you look after it, it's unlikely you'll ever need it repaired.

What to look out for when buying a new to me Android ?
Specifically the Oppo X3 lite
Working ! Screen and battery ok Unlocked
Screen burn a problem ?

Screen burn is not an issue with OLED. Unlocked is the big one, followed by everything working including the charger and charging.
Make sure your current phone is backing up to Google and use the Google restore when setting up the new phone. It's not perfect, but it should install the apps you use although the icons will be shuffled around. Don't forget your Google account, it's key to a smooth transition.
You may need to order a new SIM if the existing one cannot be separated into nano-SIM size.
As soon as you have it working, upgrade it to Android 13 if not already done.
