How can £70 for a good used LG be a lot when the average iPhone costs £400 and is inferior?

I was talking new but since they hold their value to ridiculous levels amend that to £300.

A second-hand iPhone 6 could cost you twice that much, a second-hand iPhone 7 is around four times that much, looking at the musicMagpie store on eBay.

Not a clue, Mike. I was going by release date. Both the iPhone6 (09/14) and the iPhone7 (09/16) were released before your phone, which was released in 02/17.
The iPhone 8 (09/2017) is selling for £400-£500+ refurbished, and iPhone X (10/2017) £500-£700+

How do they compare to the LG/Android features ? Many apps are comparable, but the two OS are not. iOS uses walled-garden app containment. No ability to share files in a central file system. Android has an open shared file system. Files can be shared between apps and read when the phone is connected to a laptop.

The big thing I am told I have cut myself off from is the wonderful shared everything on Apple. The Applytes seem to be sharing lots of stuff - bearing in mind I know little of what I talk about here

That's up to you and whether you'd ever use it.
All functions are available for global platforms, such as Skype for video calls, WhatsApp for messaging. There is no need to use Apple-centric apps.

Just a 4-digit PIN should keep you safe. I use that but most often facial recognition works for me (don't look for it, it's a feature of my phone). Whatever you do, don't forget your PIN!

I have 3 methods: Face recognition, Thumbprint and 4 number pin that will open the phone

Mike can use...
• A Knock Code: Tap the spaces of the screen in accordance with a pattern to unlock the screen. • Pattern: Draw a pattern to unlock the screen. • PIN: Enter a numeric password to unlock the screen. • Password: Enter an alphanumeric password to unlock the screen.
I use a pattern lock on most of my devices, and fingerprint I.D. on the iPad

Have you tried a life sized photo or print your face on a balloon and then blow it up, and see?
