I wonder if there is a Guinness World Record for box-swapping? I'm sure Jerry would be right up there.

My "new" Hifiman HE-500 planar magnetics - a bit legendary, these. ... with my patented (not) DIY cabling Bluetooth wireless setup. Golly, these are rather good! From being a planar magnetic sceptic I've become a bit of a fanboy - I guess they have to be the right planar magnetics!

So you wear the player as a necklace?

So you wear the player as a necklace? yes, although I've now put a short extension cable on it and attached the Bluetooth widget to the top of the headband. Looks daft but is more convenient.

Does the receiver/headphone amp have a built in battery supply or do you have to power whilst listening?

The first arrival of 2021. A Myryad MXD4000 preamp. It doesn't have the low frequency heft and sheer power of the NAD M15, but makes up for this by an impressive transparency and low level dynamic nuance. I suspect the Myryad will stay for now and the NAD will move on. Or I might keep both. Or I might sell both when my RME ADI-2 DAC arrives.

The Myraid T40 was my first proper amplifier I bought I went up to 2 and using as monoblock so got the addiction quite early!

Or I might sell both when my RME ADI-2 DAC arrives. Wot? A DAC that isn't 20 years old?? Apparently those DACs have more features than you can shake a stick at and lots of rez too!

Myrad was one of a couple of brands I was checking out before I bought the Primare.

Myryad / Primare -- MXD4000 vs Pre30 -- totally different soundworlds.
The Primare didn't last a day!* Having now tried the Pre30 and the 30.4 power amp I've come to the reluctant conclusion that Primare just didn't have me in mind when they designed them. "Reluctant" because they look so cool and are so well built. But I didn't like the sound at all.
* Actually it was literally less than 5 seconds before I knew the Pre30 was about to hit the classifieds again. I looked at it with a kind of frozen horror and thought "Nup". Which I think is short for "No hope at all".

Lots of stick shaking to be had. I have a leetle DIY room eq in mind. I've a Behringer DEQ2496 with a mic which will allow me to display in-room freq response. And the RME has enough flexibility to be able to do some fun stuff with.
