If it's a graduated spectrum, John, I guess there must be a little of it in all of us.

Been playing around with software on my pc as Jplay just released the latest update, MQn is still beating Jplay in my system a lot more detail and natural sounding. Jplay has a bit of edge to it and not as detailed. Anyone using windows based system MQn is worth trying its a very minimal player but so far the best I heard and is constantly being refined So bottom line a open source player in my system is beating a expensive player For those used to Jriver this will be to minimal

Why is MQn so hard to find, John? It appears to be available only on download sites requiring a login or bundled with crapware. Is there a support site?

Perhaps the zip file size is over 10MB - standard e-mail limit. If you tell me where to go I can download it myself?

Seems the link I included is up to date Vic just usually sends them over to me As I said via the Caiman it does not show it at best Via the Cunas it sounds evry bit as the Caiman and with the amount of updates will soon be a better transport than my file based DVD player

Does MQn only work with USB? I was hoping to try it on my PC running an old Caiman via optical S/PDIF.

A few months ago I heard my friends new open baffles that used the Markaudio Alpairs 12p drivers It was the first time I heard open baffles that I enjoyed more than my own. It started me on quest to address the system main weakness and that was the detail. I was thinking either super tweeter Ali kindly lent me one and it certainly reinforced my thoughts that the Silver Iris tweeter was the weakest link in the speakers. The hardest bit around my speakers is that you have to go on a mixture of guesswork and advice (due to difficulties of hearing modifications) from people you trust (Hawthorne Audio has a great support forum and this was where I got some good advice). In the end I went for the Radian tweeters. I had to add a 15 ohm resistor to account for the efficiency difference, but straight away I could tell I made the right choice. I always find it frustrating when I get a itch I cannot scratch and great relief when I finally solve the puzzle when it comes to sound At some point I might get a pair of AMT 700 but right now I really do not feel the need.

I agree about scratching that itch, John. For me it was cables for a while, but I am done with them.
Now it's supports and I'm getting there.

I keep thinking I must try something with the speakers to see if I can push the SQ even further. I wait to have a better opportunity to experiment

A radical thought: is there enough rigidity in your baffle design? That centre part of the 'figure 8' must be flexing? Is it worth thinking about a new baffle for them, possibly with straight sides?
I'm thinking of the Jamo 909s...

Yes the 8 would be the weakest part I like the design how it looks very unique I have a think about extra support around the back The baffle are 40mm mdf

Looking at the Jamo I think I actually have more wood between the drivers but like the idea of the back brace
