I've successfully played mp3 files but more interestingly hi-res WAV, FLAC and DSD files. The SEG handles it all.

I sold the server as no longer using it and also sold the linear power supply The pi is used just for streaming Spotify The pi has 1 IFI USB silencer on a USB output and cat7 cable Ethernet cable, with choke cables on power supply and Digital cable. Very happy as discovering more music again and love how easy everything is Keeping all my music files as never know if be using them in the future and have several back ups

Is Spotify now your main source for music then ?

Yes 3 month ago I would of not imagined that Spotify would be my main source In the past I used to have issues with how it handled complex music but not any more

It's the same for me, John. Spotify is now a main source together with CDs.
The sound quality makes you reassess everything said about compressed formats. It's far more about jitter and DAC quality.

Spotify regularly surprises me with how good it is, I just hope they sort out their legal issues and it doesn't affect us consumers too much.

Mike, did you ever get a Spotify Premium account to try? Otherwise, you're wasting your Pi's capabilities.

Need to change the way I listen Currently going through all the CDs I bought on the different systems, sometimes jumping off for known albums on the big system. When I have that done I have the option to piggy back on another account. Looks like a question of time only

A few more upgrades to the pi Now added another USB Silencer not the same difference as adding the first but still a small improvement Had a accident with my Cat 7 cable so decided to go for a expensive ethernet(Meicord) cable, a nice upgrade in sound, Treble very clean and extended and think I pushed the pi as far as I can Still no regrets moving away from the server as discovering so much music

Moving to Spotify and away from files I find I am discovering more music. With my file based music I tended to listen to the same music

I have added a Black Ravioli pad under the pi and 3 under the caiman. Both helped the sound quality, the caiman seemed to benefit the most. Half the price of the feet, but still improves sound quality.

Excellent. Have you tried a weight on top John ?
BR work well on tiny and light items. RDC and hard items often don't hold the kit
