Have you thought of using the spare Black tulip channels to drive the Batpures John?

It wuld mean extra cabling and the Batpure is working quite high up the frequency spectrum If I was to do that I use 2 PRV like this www.trans-fi.com/my-system (not heard anything that has a similar sense of scale and impact, but worried to intense for my room) and no longer use the Batpure

Oh, I didn't realise you were no longer using them.

Nooo - the amps are at slightly different heights. I think that would drive me insane. I bet they sound good, though!

I will sort out the height soon Using the batpure just wired in with the PRV drivers was thinking you meant powering PRV with one amp and batpure with other amp Chris

I not to fussed about looks of the system 🙂

Interesting John!
I certainly don't have the room for another Black Tulip at the moment, but is definitely something I would consider in the future.
I must confess to knowing very little about 'monoblocking' - can any stereo amp be used for this?

I could but a lot more cabling to achieve

It's not a true monoblock as not using both circuits In my case the amp doing a lot less work so are also to play at Martins levels without clipping

Sorry I still don't quite get this - how would you connect the amps to be a 'true' monoblock? If you want to run two stereo amps together, you could try (among other schemes): Bi-AmpingUse each of the four amplifiers to drive a bass or mid-treble channel to speakers with a spilt crossover. This scheme lets you use two differently sized amps for more grunt to the bass channels (but you may have to adjust the relative gains). Paralleling (valves)You can run each valve power amp with paralleled outputs by splitting the same input connections to L/R inputs and combining the speaker outputs. This is for output transformer designs only. You could set the output impedance to 8 or even 15 ohms for greater current delivery and/or higher damping factor. Bridging (solid state)Some transistor power amps have a switchable 'bridged' mode which runs the two amps in push-pull mode for greater power delivery (but not higher current) where big voltage swings are required. Only one input is used and will be marked as the mono input.

Sme small changes to the system Server now uses the IFi silencer a USB cable Oyaide d + USB Class S and IFi Purifier 2 Has taken the server up a few notches. Now time to test it against either Martins or Mikes CD Player Also added in a mains filter which helped too. I really been trying to avoid this for a good while but finally gave in and yes another step in SQ I would appreciate someone having a listen to the system to have a different pair of ears I pushed it as far as I can without spending serious money andthink I got a sound that is special
