Hah! What a let down that film series is. The first one was made for real car enthusiasts and worshipped cars and the modding industry. Now they're dumb and stupid and not worth bothering with.

Because we are carting our oldies about more and more and they struggle to get in and out of saloon height cars, a SUV (oxymoron) is probably in order. Have been auditioning some.. Honda CRV and Mazda CX5 are actually too high for the oldies, legs dangle on getting out. Quashqai / Ford Kuga are about the right height. Ford C-MAX is another one but not quite heigh enough? Honda HRT I mean HRV is a bit small. I don't really care about a sporty driving experience, and I'm not racing on the roads Leather is good as it helps twisting / sliding to get out. Roomy seat belt buckles, they struggle to locate and push home and easy to reach belts are the order of the day. Needs to be composed, quiet enough and roomy. Suzuki seem a bit plasticy in the reviews I've looked at. Any I've missed?

There's a Vauxhall version of SUV I'm sure. 2nd hand ? Interesting to have SUVs that are too high. Hadn't thought of that. I'd probably go for a Ford There are also Jag, Maserati and Bentley SUVs

Not keen on VX. Porsche too but would have to be older = possible liability. Bentley etc lol.

The CR-V is plain sensible, the Quashqai plain ugly and the Kuga not a bad looker. Kia do something that looks decent, too.

Mike mentioned the V word!! I'm not a fan of SUV's but the new Skoda Karoq certainly looks worth investigating.

I plan on keeping my 1997 Diahatsu fourtrak 2.8TDX Riviera as long as possible. I bought it when it was 18 months old and only done 65k miles in it since. Does quite a lot of off roading and pulling a trailer and has only let me down ONCE in all these years. It is good for another 10 years I should think as long as the body work holds out, they don't call it "the tractor" for nothing.
As far as a replacement goes, I can not think of a comparable model. Fourtrak is not made any more, Land Rover 90 is not made any more, Iszuzu Trooper is long gone as well. All the rest seem to be pretend 4wd's built for taking the kids to school and will probably never even be in 4wd mode.

Love the bonkers look of the Fiat Multipla. Not keen on Fiat though. Skoda Yeti and other square motors like the rectangular Kia. Kia now seem to have a huge range to accommodate anything. VW Toerag too big ?
Do you need height or how about carrying capacity ? Vans masquerading as people carriers ....

What I would need is 4wd, high ground clearance, high weight towing capacity, built like a brick sh*t house and will last 30 years . Not much to ask is it All this seems moot though as I expect my current fourtrak will keep going for another ten years, that will make it 30 years old

Whoops, my wife parked on a pillar in my Audi today, it scratched the door and back side element of the car so that’ll need an insurance claim.

New BRZ now complete with Rota Blitz alloy wheels. Very pleased with the results and it drives superbly. Really is the best car I've ever had (and about half the cost of the most expensive one).
