If I had a job, I'd quite like one of these:

Is that a Cappuccino car as with the Japanese designs? The engine size is limited in Tokyo for the tax break, so they have turbos for more power.

Not really being a car person (apart from vintage, that is), I haven't heard the term before. But I suppose it is. Originally it was fitted with a 660 engine plus turbo for the kei tax regulations. In some countries the emissions were a problem and so a 1.3 engine replaced them. The first series ran from 2002 - 2012, with the second series introduced 2014. Saw it when it first came out and was compared with the Ford Ka Coupé and some other. Thought the Copen looked neat. Seen two locally. Surprised how quiet the engine was.
Still doesn't beat a Lotus 7. Collecting parts for a copy. Managed to get some chassis plans last year, which helps.
I think Caterham use a 600 cc Suzukie engine and turbo/super charger now.

I think Caterham use a 600 cc Suzukie engine and turbo/super charger now. Yes, the Caterham 160. designed for handling finesse rather than outright performance. The handling will be good, but in my opinion, you need a bit of poke to go with it.

Next car will be an EV. By the time we want/need to change range will have improved as will charging infrastructure.

Having had a big powered 7 that was great for track and racing, something narrow and more subtle on the power to weight ratio would be great for country lane tootles.

Brera 'Prodrive' S edition, the 2.2. Usually a Ford Focus guy, decided life was too short!

I am getting to like that Hyundai 120 from my wife. I fitted a rear view camera and reversing sensors on it, plus a dash cam. They can both be viewed with a android phone. For the London roads the suspension is just right. I hardly feel a bump when driving. And contrary to all those reviews I read on the internet before buying, the 1.4 auto is way better in take off and general driving than the 1.4 manual that we replaced. Reviewers are hooked on the 0 to 60MPH thing. But I don't come across any stretch of road with a 60mph or higher speed limit. So those figures mean nothing to me.

I used a VX220 as a daily driver for three years and as the wife wanted a Mini Convertible I had to get something with a boot. VX gone and BMW 130i takes its place; 3 litre straight six is such a silky smooth yet powerful motor.
Next? Well I tend to buy cars out of season because anything with a soft top is a little cheaper in the autumn or winter. I'm thinking Honda S2000, Caterham/Westfield or perhaps another VX220 towards the end of this year.

Having had four BMWs in a row, it's the magnificent engines that set them aside. I've had a straight six petrol, V8, straight six turbodiesel and straight six twin turbodiesel. They were all epic in their smoothness and delivery, not to mention the classic BMW wail.

It's funny. I get car sick very often in both BMW's and Mercedes. It's something about the ride that I can't stomach - almost too smooth I guess ...

They are not a lot of fun in the wet, and my choice would be the S2000 or a VX220/Elise with a proper hardtop for winter.
