That comment stands true for quite a few HiFi forums. Certainly true for the forum I used to frequent before I found this place. Why do other forum owners have to be so controlling? Its the chance to be somebody in a world of mediocrity. Little Hitlers the world is full of them. They also have their lemmings who worship them and look up to their leader as some sort of demi god who can do no wrong. Personally there is an entire world out there, sat typing on a keyboard day and night is not my idea of enjoyment or fun. Each to their own I suppose.

Still sounds the same as before You need to put it in the freezer for 3-4 days. Then warm it up to room temperature, spray it with de-oxit D5, then fit it back in.

I think it's all loblocks. Shoved a fuse in each ear when I got out of bed this morning and I've not heard a thing all day.

Most amusing. There are some who look for and find improvements in this and that, fuses too it seems, everything. Others, the majority of the world who don't. I found the necessary to be a sheep and waste my cash but then there wasn't one at the amperage necessary or slightly above for my amp so I'll resort to my education which tells me don't be so daft.
I bought a great Manfrotto mini tripod for half the price of a red/black fuse and likely derive far more pleasure from it.

Still sounds the same as before I went one step further - because I use a regenerator I replaced all the standard mains plugs with IEC, hence no longer have any fuses at all **. "Still sounds the same as before" sums it up nicely. ** yes it is safe - I checked that with the maker of the regenerator

<obviously a joke>Well, I wouldn't have believed a £90.00 fuse could actually make a difference but I swapped out the fuse in one mains lead and I'll swear the text on my computer is much sharper. For those that know, would I get an even greater upgrade in text quality if I replaced the fuses in the leads that convey mains power to both of my monitors as well as the one to my computer or would I do better in upgrading to £1700.00 Unobtanium R Ultra Cadmium mains leads all round?</obviously a joke>

I am gutted that French plugs deny me the opportunity for all this fuse rolling, so have started a petition to have their wiring code changed

Great plan Andrew. We have some advantages. I only have to leave them outside overnight for the cryogenic benefits. It was "moins 12" the other night and the surface of the pool froze to a skating rink Edit: Wait a minute. you were teasing weren't you? A UK plug will only have a fuse, audiophile or otherwise on one of the phase connections for a BMU which will clearly unbalance and corrupt the sound. To get a properly balanced effect and fuse benefit, you need a fuse on both phase connections (brown AND blue). This is not for boring safety reasons, but audiophile fuse sound quality reasons. (Please note children, this modification should only be carried out by a qualified Elf or Pixie)

So, has anyone compared a UK plug (fused - 'Audiophile' or otherwise), and a non-fused 'European' one into their hifi- equipment? If no difference in sq was detectable this would call into doubt the efficacy of exotic fuses ...wouldn't it?

Not really. If just replacing a standard BS 13A fuse with a special makes an improvement, that eliminates everything except the fuse itself and the contacts. I clean the contacts with Deoxit, so that ensures consistency.
Changing plug types is a potential red herring.
