Not really. If just replacing a standard BS 13A fuse with a special makes an improvement, that eliminates everything except the fuse itself and the contacts. I clean the contacts with Deoxit, so that ensures consistency. Changing plug types is a potential red herring. ..mmm...yes, but it eliminates the possibility of the fuse being a 'weak link' (!) in the power supply. On another issue, you mention Deoxit Martin; is it better than Servisol? Thanks.

I use Servisol at work, it's a great general purpose contact cleaner. However, I've used Deoxit for my hi-fi system contacts for years and it's the business.

So, has anyone compared a UK plug (fused - 'Audiophile' or otherwise), and a non-fused 'European' one into their hifi- equipment? If no difference in sq was detectable this would call into doubt the efficacy of exotic fuses ...wouldn't it? BW Often exotic plugs are purchased by people who want the best of everything, they assume if its expensive it will be better, sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't.

I like to try things for myself but Im fortunate to have a few like minded souls not too far away. We get together when we can and try have some craic/drink/food and compare a variety of different things attributed to this hobby of ours.
We have played with interconnects/DACs/co-ax/optical/power leads/equipment isolation/t amps/power regenerators/balanced mains...amongst others-Ive had a lot of fun and made some good pals in the process( not to mention discovering some great music and widening my music habits).
We dont always agree on what sounds best as we all have different preferences sonically but do tend to hear the differences in what is plumbed in and come to broadly the same consensus as to the change it made to the sound.
We are talking about a get together to try the different fuses we have-will post up findings for those interested.

Often exotic plugs are purchased by people who want the best of everything, they assume if its expensive it will be better, sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't. I've experimented with the same model of Furutech UK mains plug (FI-1363) with rhodium, silver and gold pins. I went a bit mad with rhodium at first but over time I grew to dislike the glassy hard edginess of the sound it produces. Silver and gold are both good but I've standardised on gold on all my power cables as the best sounding and most consistent of them. So the most expensive is certainly not always the best.

I would love to know many fuses have been sold as a resullt of Gazjams efforts. All without having a sale to reduce profits.

Time for my next SR Black fuse. Just ordered it. .... is it destined for the mains plug for my pre-amp or power amp?

100% correct. There are hidden forces at work though (apparently) The SR blacks have been for sale for well over a year, many 1000's have been sold before GJ "discovered them" Most who use them simply don't make a fuss they just know the fuses do a good job and have a big smile on their faces when they read the crap written elsewhere abut them.

I would love to know many fuses have been sold as a result of Gazjams efforts. All without having a sale to reduce profits. Ask them chief, I am sure they will tell you info@analogueseduction.net
