To throw presents at the Chinese fans who had politely waited to see more than just rain during practice. Smart move and gracious too

Sublime lap from Hamilton, again showing the difference he adds. It's going to be very tight between the two teams tomorrow.

I would say that it was Hamilton's late braking moves that got him to pole position. Vettel's Ferrari looked faster round the bends. But if it rains then visibility from these wider cars is going to be a nightmare. The man in front, whoever he turns out to be, will then stand the best chance of pulling away from the in mist shrouded pack behind him.

Nice cool win by Lewis Hamilton and great fight to 3rd from Verstappen.

Thoroughly enjoyed that. The Mercedes and Ferrari cars looked evenly matched in China. Sainz, as usual, brought in valuable points.

I am a bit concerned that Battas managed to spin his car like that without any reason for him to make such a mistake. And I was also surprised that the Pascal replacement, Giovanni, would make the same mistake twice in the same weekend! He might have blown his chances with that. The team is not loaded with cash, and rebuilding the car twice must put a massive dent in whatever money they got left for the season.

Let's see how Jenson gets on, maybe he'll show up Alonso.

I don't think Jenson is confirmed yet, although goodness knows who else could do it.

Jenson for Monaco while Fernando goes around in circles? Indeed. History kind of repeating itself with Mclaren and Montoya and now Alonso! He follows many greats though. Jim Clarke, Graham Hill, John Surtees, Nigel Mansell to name some F1'ers who have crossed the pond for the challenge. Montoya was never a WDC of course. More complete lists here www.indycar.com/News/2017/04/04-12-F1-Indy-drivers-historyIt is a unique challenge and not a simple one at all.

Let's see how Jenson gets on, maybe he'll show up Alonso. I doubt it, unless some serious magic is performed on the power plant at just the right time before Monaco, or it's a wet qually and wet race!

Button confirmed as driving at Monaco. Excellent! And of course, he'll just have to amble down the road after breakfast to go to work

Nice job by Seb yesterday. Not sure what was wrong with Lewis, thinking he could get away with that pit stop, but nice come back drive nonetheless.

I think the gauntlet is well and truly down. I'm not sure about the Lewis penalty, when I watched it again it didn't seem so bad. It didn't help that his team are first in the pit lane and that Bottas was already in there. Yes, it was a good effort at catching Vettel and very exciting.
Overall, a good race. The Red Bulls were struggling but Massa did very well. Alonso was epic at pushing that McLaren around faster than it wanted to go.
