Is it really expected that Valterie should join a new team, maximise his potential in a new car, with new regs, and challenge his 10 year established, 3 time world champion team mate in his first half season? Seems a big ask - he's happy to get his first wins!

It's a good question, Steve, and I think you have a point. I think on an absolute level, though, based on what I've seen so far, that Rosberg gave Hamilton more competition than Bottas. It's clear that Hamilton and Bottas get along much better and perhaps that's not what is needed between team mates?

I see both points, and think that Bottas has done pretty well, but I also think that Lewis has stepped up his game this year, last year for a good proportion of the beginning of the year, he didn't seem to have the hunger that he had later in the season, and I think it is that and perhaps Mercedes being a little naughty that helped clinch it for Rosberg.
Lewis is reveling the challenge of Vettel, and from what I have seen this season, I think he has the measure of him.

I also think that it is because Rosberg retired in the manner in which he did that Lewis has the full backing of Mercedes. Had Rosberg still been there, I personally think that he might have been chasing a second world championship and Lewis wouldn't necessarily be doing so well.
Look at Brazil last year for instance, apparently Rosberg's race engineer literally talked him through the entire race, telling him which corners to take, when to accelerate etc. that is just bonkers!

Sainz to Renault? Autosport are breaking it.
Good!

I can't help feeling that McLaren are making a big mistake. If the Honda engine comes good at Toro Rosso, it'll get promoted to Red Bull and then they would effectively be a works team. Meanwhile, the Renault engine will only make small improvements over time.

I agree, Martin, but I believe it all stems from their desire to keep Alonso.

Which corners to take - lol, there's a choice? (guess you meant lines). Agree it got pathetic with all the guidance. I'd like it to go back to pit board only. Let the drivers figure it out. Apart from safety announcements / guidance. I'm sure we miss out some stunning drives / blinders of old re tyre management and choices and we get these boring 'optimised strategy races' where everybody's a few secs apart and can do nothing about it. I see Ducati are allowed to text their riders dashboard in Moto GP and that should be stopped. I'm not sure why the others can't yet, tech / safety thing.

Down the start finish straight would be fine. I guess they could only show info as you passed the pits. It's the assist I don't like. The whole thing spirals into ridiculously complex strategy scenarios with an arm of bods staring at screens. Let the drivers decide when to come into the pits etc..

Jochen Mass made the comment this week that Verstappen still needs to prove himself. That's what I have been saying for some time now. The lad thinks that he is better than he has managed to show in terms of points and podium finishes.

I'd agree Stan, I believe he is a great talent, but he has been showing his age of late with some of the more aggressive and silly manoeuvres.
His ego though, I am not sure we would want him to dumb that down too much as it is part of what makes the greats 'great', look at Schumacher, Senna, Hamilton etc. they have all had ego's the size of a planet.

My eldest son is on the plane to Singapore with two cousins and an uncle to watch the race. They went two years ago but forgot to try to secure a ticket to the venue. So this year they planned it a bit better. I have no idea why Singapore, but it's their money.

It would be Spa for me if I was going to see one abroad. Hard to beat the atmosphere at Silverstone, though.

Spa and the British Grand Prix would be my first choices, I have been to the British Grand Prix for both a testing afternoon and Qualifying which was a lot of fun.
What was Montreal like Steve?, I suspect very good indeed.

I saw Webber win the British GP at Silverstone. It was a great day.
