Astonishing can be bad as well as good , so your inference is not correct .
And , best to find out these things for yourselves I find , though i would worry about my cartridge . I try to keep an open mind, but if something has been tried by a forum member, and good results found, why not say so ?
I'm sure we would all appreciate honest opinion ?

The inference is that spraying WD40 on vinyl will be good, but why not say what effect YOU found ? Hi Pre, is there some reason that all your posts are in large blue font? Does it offend the moderators ?
I assumed the various settings were there to be used.

At "pre" school they like playing with big coloured letters. learning to read with Noddy stories goes down well as well

Whereabouts are you based Paul? There might well be someone local who can help you with the set-up if needed ... I'd go for second-hand - what are you looking at, around £200? Yes Jules, around £200.

It's good to be "grown up" , or adult when it's necessary, but surely not 100% of the time ?

You have played these silly games before, grown up is the last thing I would call them.

Just a poor, but resourceful audio enthusiast trying to make his system as good as is possible.
Ad hominem ?

Does it offend the moderators ? It would take more than that to offend me! I was just curious.

As you get older the eyes can struggle with small print.

If you press 'ctrl+', all of the text within your browser will increase in size; possibly a better solution, as it won't just apply to your posts, and those of us with ancient machines won't have to wait for the browser to grapple with the more complex formatting. @ Paul: I hope some of the daftness here hasn't actually put you off getting a TT - they are rather nice

For a great used turntable at a silly low price, my choice at the moment would be for an AR EB101 - loads of them on Ebay and Gumtree, for example. They sound great, they'll go on forever and you can take them a long way with arms and cartridges, should you feel the desire to. The standard arm is actually very good though.

Well I find the daftness thoroughly irritating, but he has done it before. There are some manufacturers who seem to be largely ignored, Dual made / make some damn good turntables that go pretty cheaply.

To add to the list of reasonably priced turntables:
systemdeck (iix? - long time ago can't remember exact model number)
rega planar 2 (wood surround, R200 arm)
both sound better than project debut to me.
or for a little more a good condition old LP12 (pre circus in my case) stand by for flack!

Some long while ago I acquired a Yamaha YP-D7 direct drive turntable. It was cheap, but not a UK model as it runs on 100v, not a problem for me as I made up a power supply to suit.
It is not as good as my Garrard 401 (in general) but never the less more than acceptable compared to some of the other belt drive turntables I have owned. Possibly it would be better if the OEM tone arm was replaced ?
It's not been used for a while, but it's my first reserve if ever the Garrard fails.

Were there any comments on the thought of spraying WD40 on ones vinyl ?
