Do you remember those awful corded remote controls that early VHS players had? Nasty.
I can see why that image came to mind Paul - they both have a streamlined art deco look, at least they do to me!

Good grief.
£7.10 for a bottle of cider at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. Painful. Similar story at London venues of course.
I'm sure people would indulge more if prices weren't so ruinous.

Gosh, we are nowhere close to being able to do that with our impoverished orchestras.
Funny how there seems to be huge funding for opera and musicals, though.

Just love this clip - an opera singer truly suffering for her art.

Paging MartinT - new Poulenc Stabat here with the often excellent period instrument outfit Les Siecles. Could be interesting.

Would have been lovely to hear this fine looking organ in action at Notre Dame in Montreal but was happy just to look around and admire the exquisite decor.

It turns out that organ was a toy! Let me introduce you to the Don Corleone of organs, at the St Joseph Oratory. Amazing building with a very peaceful atmosphere and a steward who was so kind to take us up to the organ loft. They say the organ smiles at you if you at it from a distance ...

That looks like a terrific, and quite modern, installation. Is it a Ruffatti?

Yes it's mid 20th century I believe. We have a few similar churches in this style in UK but nothing on this absolutely monumental scale. It is breathtaking.
We had to leave for Quebec just before the organist turned up - very frustrating not to hear it. I reckon it could wake the dead.
