I heard that St Pauls Cathedral is contemplating having to close its doors for good due to lack of income.

The figures tell the story - approx 2 million visitors a year in pre pandemic times, who would pay anything between £8-18 for a ticket.

Running costs are around 10 million a year.

The government has given them a cash injection of £3.3 million which hasn't stopped a number of redundancies and now the world class choir is at threat.

All restoration has had to stop of course, including replacing large sections of a leaky lead roof.

One of the best concert experiences I ever had was the 40th anniversary of The Tallis Scholars back in 2012 - St Pauls is such a special venue and building; it would be tragic to lose this part of our heritage.
