Indeed - can you imagine the royalties from Bolero alone?

Here's a thought for the day in this article about why orchestras all run at a deficit - www.abc.net.au/news/2017-04-04/why-no-symphony-orchestra-in-the-world-makes-money/8413746"Orchestras, like all cultural institutions, do create economic value ... but that's not their primary reason for existence," says Macquarie University's Professor Throsby.
"Their primary reason for existence, obviously, is to make music.
"That means it's a different sort of value they're creating, which we can call cultural value or artistic value. It's separate from the hard numbers of the economic value, from the dollars and cents."

Naxos are celebrating their 30 th anniversary this year and as well as promising... ...there is the soon-to-be-released "30 for 30" Anniversary Collection of 30 discs, one for each year of their existence. Amazon's pre-release price is £22.58 plus free delivery. My first thought was what a great starter set it would make for someone starting out on their classical journey, after they've bought some of the pieces that they've actually heard of, or at least that they've heard on the telly. Having said that, I think that there's enough in the box that it's worth buying anyway at that price. More info here...Complete track-listing here...Amazon link here...Save

Don't know if we have any fans of the enigmatic and elusive Evgeny Kissin but noticed he has a new Beethoven release, his first solo outing in more than a decade after signing with DG earlier this year. www.deutschegrammophon.com/gb/cat/4797581

I'm pissed off with Linn Records - why the hell can't they release more of their classical stuff on vinyl?? www.linnrecords.com/
