Good idea, that's something to think about.

Hah - the boxes are upside down because we just happened to pack the speakers in that way. The real test will be getting them down onto their sides and sliding the speakers with packaging out. yeah thought you must have put them in upside down, just looks a little funny in the pic I remember when I first got my Focal's getting them out of their packaging was a challenge and a half and they weigh a lot less than your Usher's so good luck!

Believe it or not, this IS progress! I have manhandled one speaker onto its side in the box and removed the box. The next part I cannot do on my own: lift the base of the speaker off the polystyrene packing so that I can bolt the plinth back on. Meanwhile, more of the system rack has been built.

That room is beginning to shrink a bit now!

The photos are foreshortening the room quite a lot (and make the speakers look small). It's still considerably larger than my old room, which you saw. Once the boxes are cleared, it'll be much more spacious.

Put them back in the boxes & get out the Gale 'GS-401's instead

Hah - I'm hoping to use the Gales for the 2nd system in the sitting room but I'm getting a little 'resistance' at the moment.

Tut tut: You really need to do better, Martin. I zoomed in and saw at least 3 CDs that weren't in alpha order! You're moved in now so there's really no excuse😄
PS. Many years ago I had two sofas with that exact shape. They called the style "Avanti". They were really comfortable and great for listening.

Give me a few weeks... Just as long as you don't put your back out moving those speakers. They must be some of the heaviest ever made.

You could leave that speaker like that but I suspect it might be a bit over the top for a centre channel speaker.

CENTRE CHANNEL? Pah! Speak not of this surround nonsense.

I'd get the system, any system working somehow, anyhow. Climbing over stuff while I do complete it all

I simply can't lift the speakers off the packaging, Mike. There are two men coming to do some work on Saturday so I shall get their help. Meanwhile, I have the feet to sort (I now have the M12 bolts) and PicturePanels to fit on the walls. Lots of work left to do.

Having just sold a couple of pairs of these I can confirm even I had to put some effort in to getting them off the floor!

It'll all come together. I'm patient for a good final result.
Tony: I wonder if yours were filled with lead shot? Mine are (I wasn't going to try and empty them) so are 30kg heavier even than factory standard.

CD player on the PC if really desperate ! I confess to painting myself into corners sometimes but I had music. One of the first things I did moving into one house was the system in an otherwise empty room banging out Quadrophenia - fabulous, still remember that from the 70s
