.... Surely it's cheaper to get shot of the stuff than buy a mower? Not if you have half an acre of it . And by the way, I just took my small mower (I have a big one too) in for repair - it suddenly started leaking petrol, and then caught fire ! I hope not too much damage done. I am in total agreement. With about 2 acres, I shudder to think what the cost would be to get rid of it.

Cut the lawn last week, will it be the last time for the season? Last year I cut it late in November and then not again until March!

We've done our last mow. It's been leaf blowing for weeks, now. Did some more yesterday.

We finally took delivery of a Toro mower a couple of weeks ago. It's a beast compared with our smaller mowers, with a 55cm cut and recycling (mulching) as part of its features. The self-propelling is so powerful that I'm trotting at full whack. Most importantly, with the wider cut there are fewer passes and I don't have to keep stopping to empty it.

Toro interesting because I see the guys maintaining the grass on Wentworth Golf course with increasingly more Toro and less John Deere kit.
