All this fuss from NVA that someone else dared make a comparison with any of their cables is a real over-reaction. I don't like the insults thrown at Chris either. This isn't even a commercial hifi product. It's being sold by an electrical cable supplier for low money. Nobody liking it is benefitting, sometimes if you find something you think is exceptional value, you want to share that. It's nothing to do with damaging NVA or anyone else. I have rated and recommended many NVA products, just because I prefer this cable to any of theirs I have tried shouldn't make any odds. I have told RD pretty much the same thing in private communication. Chris made a mistake by adding his thoughts on his DIY cable in the TSCS thread. It looked like a hijack against NVA but I don't think Chris meant it to be and I separated it out into this thread. It is perfectly legitimate to challenge the TSCS here with any other product. Personally, as I've already said, I don't think Chris's cable will match TSCS because I've listened to the latter and it's an exceptional cable. There is a big price difference which needs to be considered, too. However, that's beside the point. Products are open to be challenged, that's how we learn and improve our knowledge. To give an example, I have on several occasions expressed my opinion that Bose make terrible products. Now, if Bose even cared about what I say (I doubt it), they are welcome to send me an example of their product and I will give it a fair listen. A bit extreme but I hope you get my point.

The refence to NVA cable goes back ages and I made it. I prefer this cable to LS6, which I liked but found a bit fatiguing on longer listening. I also prefer it to the older LS2 by a big margin although I thought that was a bargain too. My experiences with NVA cables haven't been typical, as I cannot tolerate LS1, LS3 or LS5, having tried them several times over a number of years, homes and systems. I would gladly try any NVA or other cable but as my experiences aren't typical I don't think it would add much value to the debate. Just don't use it with NVA amps because if they go wrong you may have difficulty getting them repaired. NVA speaker cables have no sound to speak of so you are likely hearing how your speakers or music sources are warts and all. I really don't understand any claim that a product "has no sound" because you can never hear it in isolation. Given that I have even used NVA cables in systems that have had NVA amps AND speakers together with a range of sources, I don't think your claim stands up anyway. Also, if NVA cables all have no sound, how would I dislike some and like others? The base cable used in LS1, 3 and 5 appears to be the thing I don't like, creating a sound that has an unnerving lack of air and presence to me. The problem isn't there with LS2 and it's helped greatly when a different cable is added to the mix in LS6. But I will say again: I find Chris's cable better than the lot of them. Irrespective of price. If if every other speaker cable I've tried, presents the music with realistic space and presence and these cables don't, then I find it impossible to believe the source is to blame Remember I've tried them with NVA amps and speakers, so by your reckoning this would only leave the sources. Of course, I may just have dodgy ears or bad taste to go with all the apparently poor kit I've tried these cables with. I have never tried TSCS but I don't doubt the reports of its sonic capabilities. Just a small amount of the more expensive cable is enough to lift LS6 way above 1,3 and 5. If I could afford it, I would try some and buy it if it was worth it to me. However, anyone getting their panties in a bunch over one line about a £2 cable in a thread about theirs, really needs to get a grip. It must've happened more than a month ago and it was set right by Martin T, so why the continued fuss? Anyway, as this thread is meant to be about Chris's cables and some people are so sensitive you can't mention other cables in threads about their products, I will leave it there.

Damn. Didn't realise this had caused hassle like that - many apologies. Don't worry about it mate, not your fault if others read into your intentions something that was never there.
