It's locked for now, Stan.
Perhaps one day we'll review it, but you'll forgive us if we're a bit tired of the whole subject at the moment.

Excellent last post orbscure, I rather like to visit this place as a relatively calm haven, and am frankly disappointed that some folk seem incapable of abiding by the AUP and ethos of this place by continuously "picking" at old scabs and sores derived from conflict elsewhere. It is regrettable that some have little or no right of reply to comments made on those conflict zones, However, frustrating as that may be, that scenario should not absolve one from observing the AUP here, nor is it, IMHO, justification in regarding TAS to be the right place to do so.

Seconded.... As someone relatively new to Hifi fora and TAS I am really sick and tired of hearing the same old whinges trotted out at every opportunity. I was just as disappointed with the demise of the Loan Scheme as the next, for reasons I have already stated a number of times, but more disappointed that instead of input from those with trade interests giving some inkling of their case against, we have this constant stream of the same people resurrecting their tired old battle here. I know very little about Richard Dunn - nor do I really care. If I'm looking for info on vacuum cleaners I personally don't give a toss whether James Dyson eats kittens for breakfast or not, just whether his products suck!

. . . just whether his products suck! Apparently a lot of them suck really well.

I like to think some of us have an ethical policy in regard to whom we do business with.
Like the backlash against big company's who dodge UK tax.(as an example)

Like Dave (DSJR) will be doing for NVA products.(as I understand things)

So Stan is interested? I am now aware of one other maker who might have been interested. Unfortunately people didn't come forward before the loan scheme was dropped. If 3 companies could be mustered up to take part incl NVA, would that make admin reconsider the situation?

Surely, how I define my ethical policy is up to me to decide ?
And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who would boycott NVA because of RD's internet persona.

Yes, we know RD is a cantankerous old bugger, thank you. He knows it too. How does this affect the sound quality of his products? I'd also be interested to know how the ethics of tax evasion got woven in to the discussion. Is there a suggestion that NVA is guilty of it? I hope not. Perhaps you chaps could take a deep breath, and during that breath have a quick look at the very few rules that have been laid down for this forum, particularly numbers 3,4, and 5. I would copy and paste them here to save you the trouble, but as I'm an Admin at HFS some of you would check anyway, in case I'd just made them up.

Sorry if my "tax evasion" example confused anyone, there is absolutely no suggestion that NVA are involved in any such things.
It was just an example of things that I can't abide, and a reason why (as another example) I won't use Amazon.
I have no reason to doubt the excellence of the NVA product, but after the personal abuse I have received from RD, and his forum cronies there is no way I could ever deal with him, even if he would let me.

Obviously - although personally I wouldn't have an avatar of a character created by an acknowledged Racist, Sexist and Xenophobic author..... But each to their own as they say

I see where you got that information from (Wikipedia ) but I prefer the more positive version, ie
"Blyton felt she had a responsibility to provide her readers with a strong moral framework, so she encouraged them to support worthy causes. In particular, through the clubs she set up or supported, she encouraged and organised them to raise funds for animal and paediatric charities."
As an aside, if RD ever apologised for his attitude towards me, I would forgive him.

Ah yes - that renowned ethical principle called 'turning a blind eye'... So to sum up, your strong 'ethical framework' in relation to RD is really just based on some historical spat you had with the bloke.

I don't feel the need to be intimidated by you, or any other person, regarding who I choose to deal with.
Noddy was my avatar, but I have changed it for something more apt.

But each to their own as they say Apparently, Winston Churchill, the greatest Briton, was considered to be a racist by some so howza about that? Wasn't his statue, near Parliament, daubed with red paint at some stage to this account? There are people who some like and there are those that people hate, guess we have to live with that. I rather like the Noddy avatar, shows that the member has a sense of humour... try a dose of it at some time in your life! Carry on with the tea party girls.

OOOOH - shall i get my handbag? Personally I thought it rather humorous that someone banging on about 'ethical principles' would have Noddy as an avatar ... outside of that - quite frankly my dear, I don't give a toss

Way, way, WAY off topic now, chaps. I'm locking this thread for a while now until everyone cools off, then I'll reopen it. At that point, I really will insist that we stay on topic. This is NOT the place to vent every bit of remaining latent anger you may have. If it was, I would have to start on traffic wardens... Go have a beer, chill. While we were arguing, another great musician (the same age as me) has died.
