A humorous point to be chuckled at but for some, me in particular, finger marks are a significant presentation issue. I have a Chrome plated Devialet (please ignore my current Avitar. It needs an update). When I got it I knew surface marks were going to be a problem, and for sure, that expectation has been realised. However, it turns out to be no big deal to occasionally, wearing the supplied cotton gloves and the supplied micro-fibre cloth to easily polish away all marks. Actually, it's kind of helpful because it encourages a regular dusting and cleaning routine.

How are you getting on with the Devialet, Greg?

I absolutely love it. Best amp I have ever had. Gives a really balanced and detailed sound which to me sounds just right. Since I've had it, I've listen to music for long periods (off work with a knee injury and awaiting a replacement) nearly every day. I'm not convinced by the phono stage but this is probably because I can't match my cartridge to it exactly, but using my external phono stage is fine. I've also moved on from my RPi streamer and now use a microRendu which I equally love. It is so revealing of micro detail and musical nuances that I am gobsmacked evertime I listen. In particular my system now has me regularly listening to unfamiliar music and daily making new discoveries. I am now racking my brain to find a way of buying the expert pro upgrade which is a bigger challenge. Anyone want to buy a World Audio Design 300B push pull clone, constructed with the finest boutique components (see avatar)?

Thanks. I know Devialets receive mixed reviews but it's good to know it can do the business in the right system.

Good effort mate. Note to self 📝 Buy second hand kit from Rarebird. Exactly. If only everyone looked after their kit like Andr'e. I wouldn't buy anything tatty and nothing has ever left me in worse condition than it arrived. Most items leave in better condition and sometimes rescuing an item has been the only motivation to buy.

I wouldn't do it all the time, but I got a great deal of satisfaction from rescuing a pair of Gale GS-401C speakers that were "sold for spares" for £34. They were in a bad way, but who wouldn't want to try with these classics?

Some nice HW there. Heatsinks are cool I put some extra ones on my 1/2HP Lathe motor - works a treat.
