Inside my LFD PA2M (SE) - the extreme circuit tuning is obvious with the multiple capacitor & resistor styles, use of obsolete components, wiring etc. Once LFD's stock of output MOSFETs for these amps are gone, then they'll be discontinued for good (they came back after a box of MOSFETs was found): And the front: The Exposure IV sounds great, but the LFD does (and should!) notch it up. How many watts/ch is this beastie ?

I realised I had not contributed to this thread thus far. Here are the bass amps. The Crown is a 200wpc in to 8 ohm and used for the Exponential mid bass horns that use JBL H2220 15" drivers. These amps have great auto speed fans that in hifi use hardly spin up and are thus silent! The Cerwin Vega is beastly heavy and 400wpc in 8 ohms and used on the Eminence Kappa Pro LFII 15" drivers in the tapped horns. Also 3 x Icon Audio EL84 amps. Tubes are Russian Military. These drive the mids (JBL 2482 compression drivers on 200Hz Tractrix horns), the upper mids (Vitavox S2 compression drivers on 450Hz Tractrix horns, and Raal Lazy Ribbon Tweeters.

A few changes since I last heard your system Steve I imagine it gives a lot of control low down

Another one in the occasional series to show us your equipment using your own photography. Belles SA-100 Power AmpAurorasound VIDA Phono AmpJust want something like this now, Martin - to jazz things up, a bit:

Big meters!! Pointless on a power amp, but always loved them.

Logic and a man's H-Fi... Doesn't always follow, Martin. Doesn't always follow.

I saw your opening post requoted above, and realised that is a significant sea-change from your priorities with the Chord. Is that Belles SA100 not a 100wpc amp without balanced inputs? I seem to recall lots of dynamic range calculations justifying a need for over 200wpc previously. And a definite preference for balanced connections. What happened?

Indeed, and well spotted. The significant thing about my speakers, with their twin 11" woofers, is that they are a bastard 4 ohm load and require high peak current capability and high damping factor (low output impedance) for good bass control. In my previous room, the lack of control was causing some nasty room modes around 40Hz, hence my port stuffing experiments.
The Belles lacks the headline power spec, but it actually has twice the peak current capability of the Chord. The proof was in the loan and, after a week, it was obvious that the Belles was a clear winner in the bass control stakes as well as being more transparent overall. So the Chord is good but the Belles is better.
As for single-ended inputs, I would have preferred balanced inputs but c'est la vie. After trying a few interconnects I landed on the NVA TIS as sounding the best with the Belles so that's where I stand right now.

I used to have power meters on my old New Acoustic Dimension 'Model 60'. Because i always listern at sensible levels the meters would hardly move.

Now out of its packing materials and installed and in use

Isn't that more "finger mark" than Benchmark

It's a fair cop.I'm not one for dusting.that's why the hifi is in a cupboard. And the power amp runs cool enough to hide in one

They say the camera never lies, but boy does it exaggerate when it comes to finger marks!

I had the same problem when photographing the Pass. It looked scratched in the photo, but in fact it was just dust!
No, I never had the chance to try the Benchmark but that can still come at a later date.
