Ansolutrely, and you know sometimes we change our views as time passes. I absolutely hated Steve Davis at the time. Now I think he's a nice bloke. Same with Marvin Hagler. Sometimes the people we love or hate change too but we don't see it until later.

I couldn't stand either Benn or Eubank at the time but have warmed to both of them a lot, over the passage of time.

I was a big Nigel Benn fan and back then Eubank was "the enemy". Now I think he's a star. I've re-watched his fights and I think my bias really stopped me seeing how good he was too.

It's not necessary to align with someone's views to like them. I felt that way about Mansell as I do now about Hamilton: I admire greatly both their driving skills and care little about their private lives. Mansell was one of the few to truly challenge Senna as Hamilton has done with Alonso, Vettel, Raikkonen and Button.
I never liked the arrogance of Schumacher as I do not now like that of Verstappen, even though they are both naturally fast. Vettel is nice in interviews but is turning rapidly into a whinging whiner now.
As for actual driving style: Button is the one I most admire and try to emulate. Smooth with minimal inputs and sets the steering perfectly to get around the corner with little correction.

It's sad the Jenson doesn't get the credit he deserves. He's been able to hang with both Hamilton and Alonso and never driven with bad intent towards others. Seb is pretty much as Webber described him. Verstappen is a twat, much like his dad only worse.

Why and in the nicest possible way how would you know as you are not Lewis Hamilton? It's called "having an opinion".
Of course I don't really know for sure, but then nobody else does either. An opinion, tut tut, you should know by now they aren't allowed I understand disliking someone, for instance, I have never ever liked Alonso or Rosberg, not sure why personally, but there is just something about both of them I can't get on with.

Maybe that could be something to do with it, I like the agressive drivers, like Hamilton, Verstappen and Schumacher in his heyday... not so fond of the placid nicely nice drivers such as Button, I guess the others fit my personality better.

I'm not sure it makes whether or not you have valid reasons for liking/disliking drivers but I'm happy to share my reasons. Ive never liked Hamilton from day one. Like Paul (PJ Downs) I remember seeing him from an early age and disliked him then. He came across as a precocious brat. I felt like he was coddled by Ron Dennis and given massive advantages over other fledgling drivers whilst claiming quite the opposite. I also didn't like this whole marketing stuff he played on about being the first black driver. That was milked heavily. Who cares what colour his skin is? He's either good enough or not. I thought he behaved badly when partnering Alonso and I hated his early driving style. He was too close to Schumacher in going beyond fair means for my liking. I must say I think he's improved a lot in this respect and I no longer have a major issue with his tactics. I disliked his sacking of his own dad, who had sacrificed so much for him. I have repeatedly cringed at his incessant chav-like behaviour and his spoiled brattishness . His recent snapchat hissy-fit was just typical of the man IMO. Finally, I see him as a whiner. Remember his Ali G quote (Cos I is black) when he was keep getting in trouble with the stewards. As far as I'm concerned, F1 has been poorer thanks to his presence. I think the 3 titles he has already flatter him and I sincerely hope he doesn't get any more. If it's ever a toss up between him and Mad Max, I will switch off All just my opinion of course, but there's no law that says we all have to like him. Interesting I have never liked Alonso since he first came into F1, and particularly following 2007 when he tried (IMHO) to bully Hamilton in his first year in F1... to me he was outright beaten by a rookie, so I lost all faith and any respect for him thereafter.

Ironically they both seem to have changed and now enjoy a much better relationship. I'd love to see them in the same team again.

His 3 titles don't flatter him at all. He's the second highest race winner ever behind Schumacher. His latest win puts him equal second with Alain Prost! Here's hoping he beats that at the next race.
Let's see Britney beat that record!

Let's see Britney beat that record! Schumacher is a good comparator because he too enjoyed multiple years of being in a totally dominant team. Get a seat in such a team and you're pretty much guaranteed to finish first or second n the championship. Schumacher was an even bigger fraud because his team mates had contracts that forbade them from racing against or beating him. Frankly you could stick Bernie behind the wheel os such a dominant car and he'd take the chequered flag. Mind you, he does only weigh about 5 stone wet, so he has an unfair advantage

I was jumping for joy until I read the last sentence: Nobody knows when and there might still be a role for Bernie! Might I suggest he and EJ become crash test dummies for his "brick wall corners" proposal

I think for the majority they all earn their championships. Even Rosberg, if he wins this year, would have deserved it because he has been extremely consistent all year and has capitalized on the reliability woes and aborted starts of Lewis.
Personally though, I haven't seen much difference in Rosberg this year. I wouldn't agree with some peoples assessment that he has upped his game.

Let's see Britney beat that record! Totally agree and all things considered ! No one said ' here you go, here's three titles'. He was always regarded as a 'talent' and one for the future and has gone out there and fully utilised his God given gift and the opportunities presented before him. What he's achieved is to be commended. Prost himself recognised that which speaks volumes and messaged him to say - quote: '51 and not the end . Well deserved' I for one see that as high and genuine praise from someone who 'knows' and I dont think for one minute would waste his time to send a message like that if he didnt have respect and admiration for our man and what he's accomplished. Yep, I too hope he continues to battle on to even more victories in that 'never give up' spirit that he does.

I think his best performances were the first half of the season before last. He was winning races on merit but then started to crack and make mistakes. Last year was pretty one sided whilst the title was up for grabs and you have to wonder how much of his late season success was down to Lewis trailing off when the title was his.

So Bernie is staying put and Ross ain't taking his place. The only way Ecclestone leaves F1 is horizontally. In the meantime we have to put up with his lunacy.
