It was the fault of Verstappen. Raikkonen had two wheels off the track, and Verstappen next to him. Verstappen messed up his start and then went for a gap that wasn't there. He also tried to run Riakkonen off the track with his late move. Kvyatt got demoted for far fewer errors than that.

That's where we differ then Stan as I would say the incident was the Ferrari's fault and certainly more on Vettel. Max is already known as a hot head, he reminds me a lot of Lewis, Schumacher and Senna when they first got into F1, none of them were worried about taking exorbitant risks and they all found gaps that were probably not really there in reality. Vettel for me whilst a great driver, has always been a little soft - he is great at starting race from the front and then winning but he has never been one that is superb and getting through the field because he is too safety conscious, but then I guess that is because F1 as a whole IMHO is too safety conscious currently.

I think the turn 1 incident was mostly Vettel's fault, although Verstappen was chancing his arm at a manoeuvre that had little chance of coming off without a coming together.
I think the Verstappen incident in front of Raikkonen on the fast straight was extremely dangerous and could have killed them both. The stewards really should have taken action over it.

I thought Alonso might have got an unsafe release penalty, but the officials seemed to think it was OK.

Kimmi had nowhere to go since Verstappen was blocking the safety space outside of the white line. Kimmi was in the blind spot of Vettel, and there was no chance that Vettel could even see Verstappen since he was off the track.

Only just finished watching the race as I've been away.
Verstappen's new, and he's hungry. I don't think he could be blamed for much during that race, other than moving over on Raikkonen a little late along the straight after La Source. As for the first corner, Verstappen saw a gap and went for it. Raikkonen couldn't really give much more room because of Vettel taking the corner so tightly. Vettel should've given much more room, which in turn would've allowed Raikkonen to give more room, and avoid incident. As you say though, racing incident.

I have no doubt he'll be in the top 5 by the end of the race. Look out Rosberg!

Respect to Massa who announced he'll bow out of F1 at the end of the season. He received sustained applause after the announcement and was naturally tearful and emotional. Some will remember him coming within a whisker literally of the world title in 2008. If I remember there were scenes of jubilation from his father and family only for our man Hamilton to pass Tino Glock on the final corner of the final lap, taking the 5th place he needed to snatch the crown and claim his very first Championship title.

I remember it very well. Good for Massa, always been a nice chap. I feel for Button who may have lost his chance with Williams. I'm sure that McLaren will boot him in favour of Vandoorn and he'll be forced to retire or drive for a crap team.

Hammy crushes Tossberg, nearly 0.5s around Monza is a lot! When do Merc look to move Rossberg on with performances like that? If Lewis had not had such bad luck early in the season + penalties he'd be a country mile ahead at this point. Now this!
True domination.
McLaren slow at the big power circuit.
Ferrari should beat Red Bull on HP alone here:)

Yeah, Lewis is a great driver, ever focused and always seems to really want it which is the true mark of a Champ. Excellent pole, just has to watch the genuine quick start fret from the Ferraris who'll be breathing hot down the back of his neck from just behind on the second row, which he'll be well aware of.... exciting stuf !

That was quite a margin from Hamilton to Rosberg on a high speed track.

Big cock up on Lewis' part at that race, the start was crap but then he failed to make any real in-roads into Rosberg's lead... If he keeps this up, Lewis will lose the Championship!

Lewis handed it to Rosberg as a result of the dreaded poor start issue. Still not sorted! Sincerely hope he doesn't end up ruing what is now a number of bad starts.

After the bad start he did well to get 2nd. On such a track, he was never going to catch Rosberg so 2nd was 'damage limitation' again.

Looks like the issue with the start was the old clutch error that Mercedes have experienced on both Hamilton and Rosberg's cars this year.
Think they need to get that sorted as otherwise it fluke be the decider for the championship!
