Oddly enough, I do find Christian Horner irritating. There's something sleazy about him.
Whilst being a fan of Mercedes (following Hamilton, and still a fan of McLaren since the Hamilton/Button days), there dominance has been enjoyable, but it is nice to see things being shaken up. It's all very well getting pole position every race, but good drivers reveal themselves from starting anywhere in the field. I'm praying for rain today - I remember the last Monaco washout which ended with about 4 cars being left in the race!

Hamilton is back Nice to see Force India getting a podium, but was a shame to see Verstappen crash out, although you could sort of see it coming as it looked like he was throwing that car round the track with a little too much confidence...

Nice one Lewis, bit lucky and real disappointment for Riccardo but glad Tossberg was atrocious and came 7th allowing Lewis to catch him up significantly in the championship

That was a really hard fought victory. The class of the man showed through in first taking the wet tyres down to the base rubber and then making the ultra-softs last so long with Ricciardo giving him hell behind him. All in very unpredictable conditions. A superb display of his craft.

"Nico Rosberg says he just had no confidence in his Mercedes in Monaco as his championship lead was cut to 24 points."
Put Rosberg in less than ideal conditions and he falls apart. For a long time he has been favoured with the best car but once again gaps appear in his armour. Ricciardo and Hamilton left him way behind, says it all really.

Yep he was atrociously bad this race and shows why I believe he'll never be World Champion. Lewis has got the momentum now...

Very pleased for my man Lewis, he's a genuine talent and always fights hard for the win regardless of weather or conditions, the true sign of a champ ! Did feel sorry for Ricciardo though who has every right to be pi$$ed with Red Bull, what the heck ! Talk about throwing away a win / opportunity! unbelievable really, it's not like they are novices so it shouldn't be happening at this level - no excuses !

Well, this is my take on the race:
1. Lewis did a brilliant job on his choice of tyres. By managing his wet tyres and sticking to them far longer than anyone else he clawed back the time he had lost stuck behind Rosberg. 2. Rosberg showed in the last lap why he is just a driver in a fats car. Le Mans chmapion Hulkenberg passed him without any difficulties after Rosberg started to struggle in the late rain spell. 3. Ricciardo might be disappointed, but this was a deserved win by Lewis, who had been the victim of a bad call by his pit crew the last time round when he was on his way to win the race. 4. Verstappen crashed the Red Bull twice in one weekend now, and in all the races had has so far taken part in in Monaco. That's more damage than Kvyat managed in his last race for RB. Is the wonderboy only able to go flat out and risk high stakes overtaking, but not able to navigate the narrow roads in Monaco? And is it now time for Carlos Sainz to be given a chance with RB if Verstappen crashes again? An interesting thought. 5. Perez once again showed that MacLaren were far too quick to judge him. Hamilton pointed out that every time Perez got a place on the podium, Hamilton had won that race.

I would LOVE to see Sainz given the chance that Verstappen was. Also agree about Pérez.

That summary is pretty well spot on Stan. Verstappen showed his inexperience by crashing out of both Qualifying and the Race but I still genuinely think he has a lot of potential... Whether that potential is significantly better than Sainz is questionable to say the least!

Conspiracy theories again! In Qually 3 how come Mercedes let LH go out and kept NR in the garage to resolve the problem of 'fuel pressure' if they knew or had the readouts and understood the problems. Smells of another issue of Nico first this year Still from a viewing point of view a great race with a number of inspiring moments and some awful ones. The Manor boys must be a bit down today along with JP. Good to see both McLarens in the points. I don't normally agree with anything Bernie Ecclestone says but I think he did instigate the idea of water sprinklers on track to add excitement. IF F1 is going to be just an entertainment show rather than a showcase of technological advancement, courage, bravery and esprit d'cour then why not. Rain made Monaco one of the better spectacles this year

Toto is ok, really. It's Christian Horner who gets under my skin. And Bernie, of course. And EJ of course:)

Yes, in the opening laps I was wondering if he'd lost all ER or something but nothing was reported. Then he just seemed slow everywhere esp putting the power down. He knows he's out in front in the championship for one reason alone, best case and LH bad luck or whatever etc and he knows it will most likely turn or the conditions will balance things over the long season... Mercedes, Lauda etc will find it difficult to back him (preferentially or not over Lewis) if the competition hots up and Lewis is clearly the man who can get points and wins where he cannot.

It seems Nico couldn't cope with an oversteer setup which was necessary to give better turn in so the Mercs could compete with the Bulls. As a result his tyres and brakes ran too cool. I suppose Jenson would have faired similarly. The problem Lewis has is the number of engine penalties he'll have late in the season.

Agreed, he's going to have to get ahead sooner rather than later as those penalties will hit at some point. Then there's Singapore - I wonder if the Mercedes cars will perform as dismally as they did last year? Red Bull will be there to sweep up.

Canada is going to be most interesting. Ferrari desperately want a podium, Red Bull have their new engine and a fired up Ricciardo, McLaren may possibly have a new engine and the silly season has begun with which drivers may go where next year.
Maldonado for a drive next year, anybody? Will Button, Massa and possibly Raikkonen leave the sport? Who will snatch Sainz? Vandoorn for a drive?
The circuit suits Hamilton but nothing is 'in the bag' any more.

I hope we get another Canada like a few years ago when it poured down about half way through - and Jenson Button came from the back to pressurise Vettel into a mistake - that was such a fantastic race!
I agree - this year, Canada is up for grabs.

Just watching the beginning of practice 1 - anyone else think that Bernie Eccleston looks ill?

He's looked dead for a number of years.
FP1 & FP2 now fully absorbed. It's a great track.
