Five months and no changes but I have added a little streaming device which is good fun. A Neet Airstream-Pro which is a tiny little box. I have it connected to my router by Ethernet cable ( it does Wi-Fi also ) and to my DAC by optical cable. I use a windows laptop where I have FLAC files stored and MusicBee as my media player. Neet recommend Airfoil software to stream the music , once downloaded it picks up the Neet Airstream-Pro , then select a music source within Airfoil , MusicBee , Spotify etc , job done

That looks like a very tidy option for a tiny cost (36 quid or so?).

Yes Chris about £36 , Airfoil costs £27 but its simple to use and very good. I tried it free to make sure it worked , it degrades after 10 mins , it is also compatible with macs , tablets and smart phones.

Quite a few changes since the new year , after experimenting with various digital boxes I had a clear out and just kept my Cambridge Audio 752 universal player , the one bugbear was that it converts SACD to PCM , well ok it sounded fine but that is not what you are buying the SACD's for . I watched and waited and watched some more till it was finally realeased , the OPPO UDP 205. Although I don't have a UHD TV I probably will one day but it was for the audio side it was bought. The analogue side has been tweaked as well , I got a Sonneteer Alabaster amp which now has a new MM stage , so I made the break from MC and sold my AT EV33 and Gramham Slee MC amp. The MM cartridge selection was really impulsive , I was going to buy a Hana then something really cheap when I came across a huge discount on a Clearaudio Aurum Beta S , never heard one or even heard of it . It was dreadful but I read an review where the guy stated it was one of the longest break in times he'd come across for a cart. Yep its excellent now about 50/60 hours later and boy can it track.
Come the autumn the speakers will be changed for standmounts , something small for near field , maybe ProAc Tablettes.

So does the Oppo output native DSD from SACDs or does it just decode them internally? How does it sound?

So does the Oppo output native DSD from SACDs or does it just decode them internally? How does it sound? Yes it outputs DSD , you can if you wish convert to PCM in the settings , it sounds wonderful . I read so much on this player and the work that went into the audio side , the 203 does all the 4K stuff and costs half as much so a lot of money went into the audio production of the 205. All the digital discs sound better than the Cambridge , the internal DNLA receiver is very good as well , I can stream from my laptop (I use MusicBee) and if you so wish display all on the TV . It has also been commended for its headphone amp which is connected directly to the Sabre DAC. (Never tried it btw.)

Martin I'll have to check on the Native DSD from disc , it definitely outputs it from USB.

From the manual , I'm none the wiser DSD – SACD Direct Stream Digital (DSD) data is output over HDMI without any conversion. For the analog audio outputs, DSD data is converted into an analog signal directly by the internal DAC. If you use a receiver that supports HDMI v1.2a with DSD over HDMI, or you prefer the sound quality of straight DSD to analog, please select this option.

Sounds like it's available but you'd have to extract the DSD audio stream from the HDMI using a converter.
Looks like a nice machine. Oppo certainly have a well deserved reputation.
