It may be a bit late now Martin but the one to go for is the original A&M recording. It's the 1991 A&M CD, John. I'll let you know when I've got it.

Anita Lipnicka - Hard Land of Wonder
Attention Tim! You might want to give this a try - she's a rather wonderful Polish singer. The album is on Spotify.

There's also a classical Board here, Gordon. Aha, so there is. Being really, really picky (as if) Bach ain't classical is it? Play Bach is certainly Jazz. Perhaps we should have a dozen or so sections for the geeks amongst us. Then again, its probably fine just as it is. I'll go back to plastering the lounge walls now then

Tricky. We've already had the debate on film scores. And what do you do with Tomita?

Tricky. We've already had the debate on film scores. And what do you do with Tomita?Well, you could do what i do. Who the hell is Tomita? OK I looked him up and had heard the name but have never listened to it so I wouldn't know its classical pretensions from its avante garde ones. Perhaps the simplest way is just a 'what are you listening to right now no matter what genre it is' type section!! To me, its all music. I listen across a fairly broad spectrum (not as far as Tomita obviously, or Madonna or C&W or C Rap or Prog Rock (!) or.....) so it just depends on mood which one I dip into. (or into which I dip) If there is one I put above all others, its jazz. But then that sort of encompasses Baroque and anything syncopated so Bach to back.

It's not easy to differentiate genres these days. Popular Classical / Film Scores is as much pop as classical. If it's popular it's 'pop'. I note we don't differentiate for Jazz or Blues. Should Classical be elevated to it's own section of superiority?

That's almost what we did - just splitting music into two genres. We don't want to go more granular as we recognise that genres cause arguments and can be reason to ignore a whole raft of music that you otherwise might like. If you get your 'playing now' in the wrong one, it doesn't really matter

You feeling ok, Tim? I love the songs, although the production is a bit iffy. Well to have an opinion you need to hear something to evaluate it but . . dreadful, absolutely dreadful - probably one of the most over hyper talentless biffers out there to be honest. Can't sing and can't write, just dreadful . . . a wall of meaningless noise with a wailing banshee overlaid and massively over produced . . . dreadful. I won't be playing it again that's for sure - I thought her first album was bad, but she's really out done herself with this one!

We will have to continue to disagree over LDR, Tim. I don't see her like that at all. I think the songs are very downbeat, minor key, street-life oriented but well written with plenty of hooks and I think her low pitch register matches them perfectly. I've heard plenty of talentless singers and she isn't one of them. Each to their own and it would be a boring place if we all liked the same music
