You have to own it Martin, if only for 'Miles runs the voodoo down' - his retort to Jimi....... I played the whole album this morning and I have to say that I'm not feeling it. Too much meandering without the sense of purpose and flow of, say, Kind of Blue or Cookin'.

Rick Wakeman - The Six wives of Henry VIII
Lots of fancy keyboarding, some great drum work. Currently 7/10 on the Mikeometer - may need an upgrade to 8

Steve Vai - Naked I like Vai a lot so this seemed a great buy for less than a fiver all in 5 albums - I may be some time Edit I lied 5 CDs, 7 albums I'm on CD 3 now Fire Garden and it is wonderful. This is going to be where I learn more about making music, having the incomplete article, Steve Vai's work without his guitar hero bit. Been a while since I played any of his albums so I will enjoy comparing the part to the full version in the future. Very well made, craftsman like

Bitches Brew maybe takes a few listens to take, but then again I like music which meanders Trying to gauge some alterations to the turntable - been going through a bunch of my 'test' LPs, now playing whatever comes off the shelf. Just finished this: Blue Mitchell - The Thing To Do (1964) Next up, this: Aphex Twin - I Care Because You Do... (1995)

I keep playing this. It’s just a great album, beautifully recorded and engineered, good dynamic range and just a really pleasant listening experience.
I hadn’t listened to much Phish until recently; they kind of passed me by. I recently got a copy of Rift having had it recommended on it’s recording quality. I rather like what I’ve heard so far.

Good to see someone else who likes to play a bit of Phish John - I don't recall you mentioning them before (but then I have a rather phish-like memory!)

Steven Wilson - 'The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories)' That's superb, Chris, especially the Gilmore-esq Drive Home.

. . . . especially the Gilmore-esq Drive Home.+1 This is also very enjoyable - produced by Ryan Adams and recorded at his Pax•Am studio in LA, returning the favour I guess Ethan Johns - The Reckoning2014 Stripped back, simple and sparse, just how I like it. A little Nick Drake and Steve Tilston ish.

New MOV release on 180g vinyl. In spite of 25 mins per side this is excellent sounding. Very quiet pressing.

Lana Del Ray - Ultraviolence2014 I'm on the fence with this one due to the production - too much bathroom effect.

hacs Linda Perhacs - The Soul Of All Natural Things - US vinyl. Beautiful album, first in 44 years and voice hasn't changed.

On the basis of those three clips, I've put it in my Amazon basket. It may be a bit late now Martin but the one to go for is the original A&M recording. I imagine it should sound rather good on your stereo.

Just been listening to Jaques Loussier - Play Bach.
Sounded awful so moved the Teufels yet again only to discover I had swapped the plugs in the amp and it was out of phase - twit. Corrected and great as ever. Any musical snobs listening - tough titty, Bach rocks.
